Stolen Lego

bookmum08 · 13/07/2020 16:58

I have put this in AIBU because I know it gets a lot of reads.
Fairy Bricks is a registered charity that raises money to supply Lego sets to children in hospital. They are based in Huddersfield.
Their warehouse has been BROKEN INTO and £1000s worth of Lego sets stolen. Their delivery van has also been stolen (it had previously been broken into and Christmas Lego sets stolen).
Everyone loves a bargain but I am asking people to keep an eye out for sales of 'To Good To Be True' priced Lego or very large amounts of Lego - especially boxed as new sets. Especially in the Huddersfield area. This is a horrible thing for this charity and for children in hospital.
WestYorks Police are the people to contact if anyone knows anything.
Thank You.

They will never be found and sales of just too be good to be true Legos are extremely common. People.get sick of them, take them apart and sell them in Lego forums. I bought 2 death Star sets,2 Millinimum Falcons and Hogwarts Castle for 150 dollars this morning. This is not unusual

bookmum08 · 13/07/2020 17:38

Hopefully the sets will be tracked down. They will have been stolen to sell. The secondhand Lego market is huge but as this is bulk amounts stolen it is more likely to be sold via eBay. I am just asking people to be aware. It's such a cruel thing to have stolen gifts intended for children in hospital.
(Also at the price you paid for the sets you mentioned I would be very surprised if they were genuine Lego. Bargains are out there but there is usually a reason why it's such a bargain - fake or stolen is often the reason)

That’s so rotten Sad

TreadLightly3 · 14/07/2020 00:11

Awful and so sad

Suzie6789 · 14/07/2020 00:13

Hope karma gets these people back Sad

I am bumping this up. This was clearly a professional job. Fairybricks seem to have been specifically targeted. This is pallets and pallets of brand new Lego stolen. Please keep an eye out for suspicious looking sales. People can contact West Yorks Police if they know or suspect anything. Thank you.

These are some of the sets stolen in large bulk amounts. Seriously if anyone comes across these at a bargain price let West Yorks Police know. The delivery van has been found thankfully.
Find this Lego ! !

I really hope someone in the know reports them.

hellswelshy · 14/07/2020 14:48

Scumbags. Hope they catch them.

ShouldWeChangeTheBulb · 14/07/2020 15:58

Stealing from sick kids! I hope they are proud of themselves.

DdraigGoch · 14/07/2020 16:15

Their van which was also stolen has been recovered.

Ofalltheginjoints · 14/07/2020 16:22

We know Fairybricks well and the amazing work they do, what utter scum you have to be to steal from a charity which gives lego to sick children in hospital, the founder, staff and volunteers work so hard to bring joy.

Keep an eye out for the Lego, it’s a huge amount so bulk deals may be offered, the information has been shared in the AFOL community so the sellers involved there know what to look out for

Thankfully the van has been found, hopefully the culprits will be soon

Leaannb · 14/07/2020 16:36

@bookmom08...No they are original.sets with boxes and instructions with matching AT code. Collector is moving overseas and is over his weight allowance

Honeyroar · 14/07/2020 16:40

That’s so sad. Some people have no morals whatsoever. I hope you can recover them.

BarbaraofSeville · 14/07/2020 16:46

Utterly sickening. I'm also fairly local so have read about this theft and the one a few months ago.

How much of an arsehole do you have to be to steal from a charity, especially one that exists to make the lives of sick children a little brighter?

kerrymucklowe2020 · 14/07/2020 16:53

LOOONG shot but do hospitals accepted used Lego ( obviously it can be washed if needed ) . There must be lots of people willing to donate non sets of Lego

Viviennemary · 14/07/2020 17:02

I think shifting that amount of Lego won't be easy. EBay would be the best place. But maybe they will lie low till nearer Christmas. At least they got the van back. What scum.

DaisyDreaming · 14/07/2020 17:05

Do they have fairybrick stickers on (I had some sets which had them on which is what made me wonder, by that I mean ones through fairy bricks not stolen ones). I’m so sorry this happened.

Ofalltheginjoints · 14/07/2020 17:44

They didn’t have stickers on the sets yet, they were still in the shipping cartons (info from twitter), utter utter scum who’ve done this

DaisyDreaming · 14/07/2020 19:42

Utter scum. 15,000 happy unwell children they have stolen from 😡😡😡😡

CornerOfTheSky · 14/07/2020 20:42

@Leaannb my Lego obsessed husband wants me to ask you which forums you use to buy Lego, sounds like a bargain apparently Smile

BullshitVivienne · 14/07/2020 20:47

This is so upsetting, I hope they recover the Lego and arrest the people who committed the burglary.

bookmum08 · 14/07/2020 21:26

CornerOfTheSky I am curious too. $150 EACH at a push for those sets but if it's for all of them that is a very unusual bargain (suspicious bargain - or a clueless seller). Even $150 each is very very cheap.
