Looks fine smells fine but I don't normally sniff my chickens so I THINK it smells like a normal chicken.

Thoughts?

Of course! Trust your nose. Make sure it's really cooked, though.

PrettyLittleBrownEyedMe · 13/07/2020 14:44

Definitely

No I wouldn't. But I'm really squeamish about meat and dates

Spanglebangle · 13/07/2020 14:46

You would be able to tell if it had gone bad. If it smells fine then it's fine.

NothingIsWrong · 13/07/2020 14:48

I would with anything except chicken. I had camplyobacter from chicken once and I lost 12lbs in 5 days. It was utterly grim and took me a good month to get over completely and my digestion back to normal.

Dollywilde · 13/07/2020 14:49

Ordinarily yes, wouldn’t right now as am pregnant but one day I’d be fine with in normal times. I wouldn’t go more than a day though and if it smelt funny it’d go straight in the bin.

WorraLiberty · 13/07/2020 14:51

Of course you can, yes.

Dates aren't an exact science and believe me, 'off' chicken is something you'd smell as soon as you opened the fridge.

DramaAlpaca · 13/07/2020 14:52

I would.

hermyweasley · 13/07/2020 14:53

He's in the oven- thanks!

I wouldn't but I'm odd about dates.
If it smells fine I'm sure it will be okay.

MorganKitten · 13/07/2020 14:58

I do that a lot

greensnail · 13/07/2020 14:58

Assuming you haven't got covid, then fine. I cooked some chicken that was bad because I couldn't smell it. Luckily the ready of the family could tell it was bad before we'd eaten too much of it.

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 13/07/2020 15:25

You probably be fine but I am a stickler for dates and have binned sausages this morning that I realised had yesterday's date on, felt terrible doing it but I'm far to fretty!

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 13/07/2020 15:28

It'll be fine - as long as you had it in the fridge.
I often buy things reduced in supermarkets and eat the next day, fish and chicken included - you'd have noticed it didn't smell right if it was off.

goatley · 13/07/2020 15:38

I would do it.

There is a definite smell if chicken is on the turn.

Namechangex10000 · 13/07/2020 15:43

I would. Don’t even look at dates half the time, you’d know if it was off! Hell, I’ve had a few chickens that have a smelt a bit iffy even when they’re in date!
