2nd birthday celebrations

Long story short, sons first birthday was ruined due to domestic abuse and awful situation. I'm out of that now, free and happy again, and want to do something lovely for my son's 2nd birthday. Something special.

I love him so much. He was totally oblivious on his first birthday, but in my head I need to make it up to him (and myself) this year.

His birthday is end of October.

Anyone willing to chuck some fun ideas at me?

Cake, some presents, if you have an outdoor space some fun toys, maybe a couple of short games.

Doesn't need to be complicated especially in a time like this.

A nice day trip such as the zoo, beach, steam railway or splash park
Or go to a park which you’ve never been to and has a particularly good play area for toddlers i.e. sand pit etc... Feed the ducks and have a picnic.
Take lots of photos, perhaps make a cast of his hand or foot print.

We didn't do anything "formal" for our twins 2nd. Their birthday is in mid-January, so we're rather limited on outdoor options.

In the end we had a homey day, and asked family friends and relations to pop in for cake and presents at tea-time. Really, just having the loving attention of all the adults who care about them was enough.
