How do you have your hair? Especially if you have a found face?

I read a post on here a while ago stating that if you're late 20's, you should not have long hair.

Not that I agree with that statement, but my hair is currently just below boob length. I am getting it cut tonight as I haven't had it cut in a year and the ends are more than a little split!

I have a very round face, so want something that will compliment that... ideas are welcome!

Going along with the age thing, how do you have yours if you're over 25...

Yabu - Above shoulder length
Yanbu - Below shoulder length

I'm 30 and my hair is just below my bra strap at the back. It is very curly though so springs up a couple of inches

HavingAMoan · 13/07/2020 07:56

Well it’s a good thing I’m 40 and not late 20s then..

My hair is down to about bra strap level.

Anyone that thinks women shouldn’t have long hair over a certain age can fuck off as far as I’m concerned. Who cares?

Anordinarymum · 13/07/2020 07:59

I'm waaay over 40 and enjoy long hair. It's longer than normal since lockdown. I'm going to wear it straight today as I am going out on a jaunt and will curl it at the bottom.

Charleyhorses · 13/07/2020 08:04

I don't believe any nonsense about what you can and can't do according to age.
I have a moon face . My hair is about an inch long! I'm 52. It's the only way that I think it suits me but that's not to say long hair doesn't look great on you. There's more to it than face shape!

RuggerHug · 13/07/2020 08:09

Watching with interest, mine is below bra strap level but I'm getting a load chopped off soon to donate. Have never had short hair so haven't a clue what I should get done with it once the length is gone. Am very fat/round facedGrin

Givemestrengthorgin · 13/07/2020 08:19

I have bra strap long hair and I'm 39. No plans to chop it significantly any time soon. There must be an app that can give us a good idea of what we would look like with a different hair style...can anyone recommend one?

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 13/07/2020 08:21

Complete bobbins to suggest women of a certain age can wear hair long/short/in-between etc.

I'd say what's more important is what kind of condition your hair is in. Personally I can't grow my hair past my shoulders without it looking limp and ratty. But if yours looks good, go for it.

Blingismything · 13/07/2020 08:22

A graduated bob would be good.

Whatisthisfuckery · 13/07/2020 08:22

I’m 38, my hair is very short, but that’s how I like it. If I wanted it long I’d grow it.

Bupkis · 13/07/2020 08:32

51, hair is grey, number 2 on the sides with a quiff...it's beeeauitful.

PumpkinPie2016 · 13/07/2020 08:42

I'm 33 and my hair is cut into a very short style. I like it and get compliments from others about it. It suits me.

It doesn't mean it would suit everyone or be a style everyone would want.

I think long hair on other people (of all ages) looks lovely. I'm just no good at styling long hair and my hair is quite fine so it doesn't work for me.

Ghostlyglow · 13/07/2020 08:46

I'm 54 and my hair is nearly to my waist. It's hairdressers who say you shouldn't have long hair, so they can make money out of youSmile

BarbiesWorld · 13/07/2020 08:51

My actual hair is currently above my shoulders and I have the biggest bald patch I've ever had but I wear hair pieces and extensions to hide the bald bits.

29 with a very round face and the most flattering style is long (22 inch extensions) with a middle part and a bit of light layering starting at my jaw.

My mum is way over 25 and has the most beautiful mane of hair that's down to the small of her back.

If you like it long and feel good with it long then keep it!

Hazysummers · 13/07/2020 08:54

I’m 33, with a round face and my hair is bra strap length. I look best with hair that length. Round faces need length IMO. I remember when Miranda Kerr had her hair cut into a bob, it really didn’t suit her IMO, made her face look so much rounder.

Look at celebrities in their 30’s/ 40’s. Miranda Kerr (37) her hair has got really long and looks bloody lovely, Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle, Jennifer Anniston, Rosie Huntingdon Whitley, Blake Lively, Lily Aldridge, I could go on and on.

Do you see Hollywood stars getting their hair cut into a bob just because they’re over the age of 28? No. So why do us mere mortals need to.

Longer hair is much more versatile. Some people really suit shorter hair but I wouldn’t, it would really age me.

Saying that, I do cringe a bit when I see people that look to be mid 30’s + with arse length hair. I don’t know why, I guess I do just associate it with really young girls.

So, in a nutshell, I think most people (especially those with round faces) suit hair that’s just below the shoulders. That way you curl it/ put some waves in it etc and it’s still fairly long and face framing.

Nottobesoldseparately · 13/07/2020 08:59

I'm 45.

My hair is to my waist.

I have a lot of it, it's very thick and has a curl to it.
At the moment I wear it in a high bun on the top of my head.
My face is on the rounder side.

Hairdressers are mostly totally overwhelmed by my hair and don't really know what to do with it. I'd love a good hair cut!

ghostyslovesheets · 13/07/2020 09:21

I’m 50 and my hair is past my shoulders which is obviously outrageous!

Long layered and curled with a big brush

SamSeabornforPresident · 13/07/2020 09:24

The 'no x after a certain age' is the shit younger people believe. (No offence OP.) Luckily those of us who have hit these restrictive ages aren't so bothered. In saying that, my hair, in a long bob, is the shortest I've had it ever, but that's just because I've two small children so no time.

Avelosa · 13/07/2020 09:25

Mine is about level with my bra strap, thick, naturally wavy and I have a blunt box fringe to hide my giant foreheadGrin

OfTheNight · 13/07/2020 09:36

I’m 38 and have a round/heart face. I’ve had pixie crops and it’s currently in a Bob with a shaved side and under cut. I’ve had it longer but I’m not good at styling my hair so just used to stick it in a ponytail all the time, so shorter is more convenient for me. I like messing about with the length and colour as my natural hair is quite boring straight and brown. Why not have a look at Pinterest for round face hairstyles for some ideas. With hair I think just have fun and give something a go, it always grows back!

Louise0701 · 13/07/2020 09:38

I’m 29 and my hair is just below my waist. I agree it depends more on the condition of your hair. Mine is thick and I love it long. Did have it shorter in school but prefer it long.
Mines all one length with “side bangs???” I don’t know what they’re called?
Like this photo but I don’t look like Michelle keegan, unfortunately 😂

CheshireDing · 13/07/2020 09:38

I am 44 an it’s bra strap length and a I have a round face, it’s curly too and I don’t intend on cutting it short.

For me I need long hair otherwise I feel boyish (that’s just my thing though) and I did have it very short in late 20’s for a bit (think prob about 4 inches all over)

MsJuniper · 13/07/2020 09:49

44 and mine has just got back to bra strap level. It is thick but very flyaway and it needs some length to weigh it down or it goes very triangular. Every now and again I am seduced by shorter hair, layers, fringes etc but always return to this length.

BakewellGin1 · 13/07/2020 10:05

I'm 36 with bra strap length hair, straight, currently dyed copper which I love. I swap between fringe and no fringe.

Presently in decent condition as I've decided I need to take more care of my skin and hair.

My face is roundish and looks plump with short hair.

RuggerHug · 13/07/2020 10:06

Wait....I've just realised something I've probably had wrong my whole life. Do people say bra strap length for the bit around your back or over the shoulders? Because I've been thinking the bit at the back but I'm doubting myself now..

Hazysummers · 13/07/2020 17:09

@RuggerHug, it’s the bit around your back!
