to ask for advice/knowledge/opinions on Oxfordshire villages (to live)?

Used to live in a small village near Wheatley and now looking to move from London (after 17 years here) to Thame or a nearby village - we need a good link to London and don't want to be too far from Bicester, where we have family.

We have a nearly two year old (likely our only as we are just 40). Need friends for us, and for our child! Any recommendations on where to live around there that has good schools, other young families (as in young kids, I realise I'm quite old for a FTM!) etc would be massively appreciated as we are wanting to move for the last time. Thanks!

Have you looked at schools at all yet and do you need to consider childcare now before primary school starts?

Between Thame & Oxford village-wise you’ve got Shabbington, Wheatley,Worminghall, Ickford, Oakley, Blackthorn, Long Crendon, The Arncotts, Chilton, Brill, Waterperry, Great & Little Milton.

I don’t think you’ll go wrong with any of them to be honest. They’re all typical small, picturesque English country villages with thatched cottages and country lanes.

Try & get on their Facebook pages, have a Google about them, research schools if you’re not homeschooling.

You will need to consider the POSSIBILITY of the Cambridge to Oxfordshire Expeessway.

Just over the border in Bucks but Haddenham - had the train station for London and not far from Thame. Not sure about schools.

Don't know much about Long Crendon but I seem to remember them having a baby group which suggests families with young kids!

Worminghall is not far from M40 but there isn't much there that I've seen. Waterperry has the gardens which are pretty but it is tiny so not sure how often houses are available...

Wheatley might still be an option. Quick to M40, has a children's centre and has local shops, takeaway, cafe. Primary school was pretty dire but I've heard it has improved in the last year.

Haddenham & Thame Parkway Station will take you to London Marylebone & Bicester I think.
