Is Covid holiday insurance worth it?

I have been quoted £60 for two of us for a week's holiday next year. Haven't got the terms and conditions but thought I would ask if it is worth this over and above normal holiday insurance?

I’m looking at booking a holiday in August and have found insurance cover which specifically includes Covid eg cover if you or one of your party have to self isolate / have symptoms before the holiday you are covered. It’s 60 for the 3 of us - if I do book the holiday I will definitely be taking out the insurance. From what I’ve read of standard insurance, you will be covered if you become ill and have to be repatriated back to the UK, but not if you cannot go due to becoming ill or symptomatic beforehand. If I were you I would take out the insurance cover for peace of mind. Compared to what your holiday is likely to cost you if it’s cancelled, 60 doesn’t seem too bad?

Is that over and above for holiday insurance? Ours cost £100 for this year. We got all our money back with no fuss.

@mrsp2009 Do you mind if I ask which insurance company you have booked with? I'm looking at going abroad end of August and would like insurance in place before I book Smile

It was Hays Travel who gave me the quote - I was originally booking with them because they have a peace of mind guarantee but they can't do it with the holiday I have booked. I have standard insurance through my bank account so usually just rely on that. I might have a scout about and see if there is a cheaper quote but I would really need to read the terms and conditions - there are so many exclusions with insurance policies.

@Thestreets I haven’t booked it yet, but the insurance quote was with Coverwise this morning Smile

Is the cover for cancellation due to Covid? I have an annual policy. I’m currently still covered for a trip booked for November for cancellation due to Covid as well as if I get it and need medical treatment because I booked the trip pre-Covid. But for new trips we are only covered for the medical side if we catch it abroad not the cancellation part.
