Urgent help needed 8 weeks pregnant

Hi all, I am new here and this is quite a long story but I will keep it short.

From the moment I got my bfp I have been told by doctors this is not a viable pregnancy (this is my first ever) and is natural.

Apparently my hcg was too low based on my lmp so it was 40 at 4 weeks. It then went up in 48 hours to 136 and then in 7 days to 1363, so all was looking positive but then I was called in because my progesterone dropped from 27 to 18 has anyone else seen this?

I have had dark brown cm literally from the day I got my bfp, pretty much every-time I wipe.

So they told me they were worried I was eptopic and they did an internal scan (6 weeks from bfp) Which showed a misshapen sac (not good). I was sent to radiology and this showed the misshapen sac to be either a hematoma or a vanishing twin.

The scan also showed another sac which looked perfectly healthy but empty and only about 4 1/2 weeks (two weeks behind).

I went back 9 days later and the other sac seems to be gone and the healthy sac Is at 12mm and shows a fetal pole measuring 2mm. This puts my just under 6 weeks, I should be just under 8! Oh and just to make matters worse they can’t see a yolk sac and the specialist and manic Google searches say it isnt possible to have a fetal pole without a yolk sac!

Has anyone else experienced anything like this or any of the above??? I have pretty much accepted by now I will miscarry and the doctor has got to the point of saying miracles can happen and referring me to hello magazine article 😂

Could I have a tilted uterus that hasnt been picked up or should it always be picked up? Has anyone else been 2 weeks behind and it been ok? Has anyone else had a hidden yolk sac?

The only explanation I have been given as I have had two implantations, the first failed and the second was later and is behind my dates! I havent had sex for 8 weeks since we dtd as the brown cm is a bit of a turn off so this cannot possibly be two pregnancies a month apart!

Any advice will be greatly appreciated! X

So not all the hints you had but I did have an undetected tilted uterus and I had ivf with loads of scans, they still didn’t notice it until in cans time for my first transfer which was harrowing to say the least. So it is possible to have that.

I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this!!

I had a D&C with my third pregnancy after scans showing a yolk sac but with too little growth this was at 8 and 9 weeks (I think it was 9 years ago).

With pregnancy 4 I had spotting so had An early scan at what I thought was 6/7 weeks. There was nothing there again just a sac so after crying at my consultant appt. I decided to refuse any more scans until the 12 week scan and what will be would be.

I know the hcg tests show that this probably not end well and I don’t want to give false hope. Early pregnancy is very difficult to assess and if it goes wrong there is nothing the drs can do about it. You can say no to further scans and then wait and see if you feel that is something you would like to do.

Hi ladies, thank you for taking the time to respond to me.

Very interesting that a tilted uterus can be missed. I just find it bizarre how it is always such a struggle to see the sac. I know it is very small but originally he was saying it was out of the uterus and then confirmed it was but was in a strange place! Not sure how that is possible either unless maybe my uterus is a funny shape!

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage @Maldives2006! I agree about the scans, it has caused nothing but stress for the last 4 weeks and there is nothing they can say or do! What is the point of all these scans when they just leas to uncertainty! I don’t even understand why they were worried about ectopic as I had no pain or history, suppose it was the brown cm!

How are things progressing with your fourth pregnancy? Flowers

Unfortunately the more tests that exist then they can worry you more. A couple of generations ago there were no early pregnancy tests so you just waited and if you were a couple of weeks late you went to the dr - nowadays we test before even our period is due so the early miscarriages (once thought just to be heavy late periods) are detected. There was no early scanning when I had mine (only routine scan at 18 weeks) but I was told I probably did conceive twins but one was lost very early on (explains the early bleed), whilst this was interesting it wasn't upsetting because I had no idea except the 2 vessel cord as evidence.

Elouera · 13/07/2020 08:47

Sorry you are going through this. I have a retorverted uterus, but its always seen on a scan. I'm unsure how it can be missed on an ultrasound, because it just refers to the way its sitting, either tilted forward or back. It can move also, especially in pregnancy. Mine is usually tilted, but in my most recent IVF, then MC, it changed position and each scan was different. Its certainly not a cause for MC and not abnormal- just less common to be tilted the other way.

What are the next steps OP? Another scan or another HCG check? Flowers

I was once told the shape of my sac was deformed, there was no heartbeat, etc sounds exactly like what you’ve been told. There was talk of a dnc if things didn’t come away themselves. I was in total denial and ran out the hospital and refused to go back, as I felt they were wrong. The Deformed sack is now a 15 year old boy and perfectly healthy x oh and I know if got tilted uterus

Mynotsoperfectlittlefamily · 13/07/2020 09:39

I have a tilted uterus also and I was told at "8" weeks that I was only 6 weeks. However they could see a very small heartbeat. My dating scan is tomorrow. I'm not sure what the outcome is going to be so I'm preparing for the worst, as in my head a 2 week difference is too much difference. I will have an answer tomorrow I guess?
Good luck

@Maldives2006 aww that is lovely to hear! Thank you xx

@okiedokieme I completely agree with you! I al going back in a week for another scan so will be 9 weeks! I would have been better off just going at 12 because then at least we would know either way what was going on! X

@Elouera they offered me another Hcg but I turned it down. I know it can sometimes increase with a placenta even if the sac is empty so I didn’t think it would really help me. I have another scan in a weeks time so just waiting for that x

@Jakc that is interesting! It just shows how dangerous early scans can be! Thank goodness you trusted you instincts! I feel a bit like that! I Just keep going back and things have progressed and they are shocked! It is like they are surprised everytime! X

@Mynotsoperfectlittlefamily I will be thinking of you tomorrow, all the very best! I have seen a lot of stories on my search to find something like my own and lots end positively and babies catching up! It is also very positive you had a heart beat Flowers xx
