To get aggy about parking? - yes another parking thread

I moved into my HA flat a few months ago (bought), it includes an allocated parking space. At first lots of cars used my bay, one person even parked for 3 days solid!
I don't personally own a car so I didn't complain but after a while it became an issue for my guests especially as parking is very tight around here, plus I'm paying for the parking management charge only for other people to use my bay.
A month or so into lockdown I put a cone in my space (another resident has done the same too as it's common practice sometimes). I noticed that people were moving the cone and parking there!
It turns out my neighbour has been running a salon in her flat throughout lockdown as has been telling her clients to park there Hmm. I spoke to her about it, at first she lied and said it wasn't her then she backed down and said it wouldn't happen again.
A few days ago I went outside and saw someone had done it again! I went to put a note on the car and saw someone was sitting in it so I walked up and spoke to her (she was scrambling to put the car into gear smh), she told me the neighbour said to park there but only if she was quick. Angry

AIBU? I own the space, there's a cone but she still feels entitled to it? IMO it's bloody rude. She's generally a pest to others so her stubbornness doesn't surprise me.

Is a lockable bollard an option?

cabbageking · 11/07/2020 22:03

Nice heavy plant pot? Or sign that a charge is payable?

2155User · 11/07/2020 22:05

new box of drawing pins you just bought got dropped and smashed all over your space

This

Firstly.. '' aggy''?
Secondly. Why don't you rent the park g space to the hairdresser?

lljkk · 11/07/2020 22:06

Why not ask her for a cut of her profit? £2 per customer? This would suit you both.

Thewindsofchange · 11/07/2020 22:07

Penguin bollard, surely?!

IMissMenthols · 11/07/2020 22:10

@marchez @EatDessertFirst When I spoke to HA they suggested the same, just peed that I have to pay to stop someone from being an ass!

@cabbageking £1 a pop, if I had one for every time I've found a car in my space I could move Wink

Personally I do think yabu.
I also live in a flat currently, I do drive but never use my space as I usually park on the front as it's easier with dd and pushchair and stuff. I've never cared if people park in it or not. We have other spots for visitors should they need them, if not they can just park further up.

thenightsky · 11/07/2020 22:14

YANBU, but can you not do a parking deal with your neighbour whereby you charge maybe £2 an hour for her customers only. Install a bollard with a lock and give hairdresser neighbour a key, to be used only for paying clients.

SkinnyChicky · 11/07/2020 22:17

Get a chain and padlock and put around the wheels. If her customers start getting pissed she will soon get the hint.

SkinnyChicky · 11/07/2020 22:18

Or report her to the planning department because revenge is sweet.

GinDaddyRedux · 11/07/2020 22:19

@Pebblexox

That's the most ludicrous reply I've heard in ages.

So because you don't use your flat space, OP should t have any issue with people occasionally parking in hers... give me strength.

IMissMenthols · 11/07/2020 22:21

@Pebblexox Did you buy your space? We don't have visitors spaces and the surrounding roads are a nightmare

@thenightsky When I need the space its random so I'm not sure if that would work, as much as I'd love to make money off her cheekiness.
