Anyone know what this is on my leg?!

It’s spreading! 🤦🏻‍♀️
It started out as the itchy ring of spots at the bottom but more and more spots are appearing!
They are quite itchy, most unpleasant.

It's a rash.

Maybe an anti histamine would calm it down?

frostedviolets · 10/07/2020 18:19

I’ve had it a few days now.
It started as a tiny patch of spots and now there’s loads.
Just on one specific part of my leg

An allergy of some type, have you changed any soaps etc recently

Or are you rundown this can manifest in a rash.

stressbucket1 · 10/07/2020 18:23

Shingles?

QuizzlyBear · 10/07/2020 18:38

It looks like ringworm - I had it years ago. The rash can get a bit crusty when scratched in those 'posies' (the rings).

I think I was just prescribed hydrocortisone and it went away. Just a skin infection, nothing actually to do with worms!

CGWGWOO · 10/07/2020 18:41

Granuloma annulare?
Have you an under active thyroid?

IWantThatName · 10/07/2020 19:18

Your local pharmacist should be able to help with a cream. If it doesn't clear up, then a GP visit (ok, phone consultation with photos).

Emmmie · 10/07/2020 19:31

Possibly ringworm.

frostedviolets · 10/07/2020 19:34

Ew, hope it’s not ringworm 🤢

VeniceQueen2004 · 10/07/2020 19:34

Looks like ringworm to me

frostedviolets · 10/07/2020 19:36

Does ringworm manifest as separate spots though?
They are loosely ‘circular’ but the spots are somewhat far apart?

OP posts:
frostedviolets · 10/07/2020 19:36

The clusters of spots are i a loosely circular arrangement I mean

They do look a bit like the rash my son had when he had shingles.

73kittycat73 · 10/07/2020 19:58

Do you have pets? They look like flea bites to me? Hope you get it sorted soon!

WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat · 10/07/2020 20:21

Well I'm not a doctor but it looks like a thigh that you've got there.

If it is ringworm you can apply Caneston cream (not the one for thrush, the cheaper one) you can get it without a prescription from a pharmacy
(I'm still not a doctor)

TheNestedIf · 10/07/2020 20:25

Another vote for ringworm. Sorry.

If you have a black light anywhere, if it is ringworm, it will glow when you shine the light on it.

DP has had it a couple of times without passing it on to me. He uses Athlete's Foot cream to get rid of it.

ShawshanksRedemption · 10/07/2020 21:11

Looks like hives to me!

ChristmasFluff · 10/07/2020 22:14

It doesn't look at all like ringworm to me - as someone who has had it.

If it was ringworm, hydrocortisone wouldn't work - you need an anti-fungal cream - just on the off-chance that someone with real ringworm is reading.

It doesn't look like any rash I am familiar with, so I would guess it is some form of bite.

I would recommend going to the pharmacy tomorrow and seeing what the pharmacist says (not just a random on the till). They'll give you good advice and redirect you to the GP if necessary

therealkittyfane · 10/07/2020 22:18

Looks like a cluster of Insect bites to me.

frostedviolets · 10/07/2020 22:19

I wondered if it was bites but weirdly it’s only on that one part of my leg.
I did consider fleas though the animals don’t seem to have any, but I have none lower down near my ankles which I’d expect from fleas

OP I swear I have the same

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 10/07/2020 22:21

Oh no yours are itchy.

Mine aren't. Never mind.

Redyoyo · 10/07/2020 22:22

Its urticaria just hives, the more you scratch it, the more it'll spread.
Antihistamine and sudocrem should help.

Oohmegooliebird · 10/07/2020 22:22

Shingles

VanGoghsDog · 10/07/2020 23:23

It's not ringworm (which is a fungal infection for which you need anti fungal cream, not hydrocortisone).

Instead of poncing about trying to work out what it is, eliminate the obvious first:

  1. allergy - use anti histamine orally and cream
    If no joy

  2. try a hydrocortisone, like HC45, available from the chemist

  3. always worth trying calamine lotion

  4. try canesten/daktarin in case it is fungal, can also take the anti fungal tablet.

Do each for at least three days. Go to the doctor if it gets worse at any stage or changes and if it doesn't clear up at all.

I had a rash on my palm that drove me mad, I went through these steps with no joy, so it meant that when I went to the GP she didn't have to tell me to buy an over the counter remedy (I did also consult two pharmacists, both of whom were wrong). I never found out what caused it but the steroid the doctor gave me cleared it up fairly quickly.
