To ask neighbour to reduce football playing?

I feel like I may be unreasonable but here goes.

I live in flats which are essentially several small blocks set around a communal garden. We all have some windows (either front or back) facing the garden. Our living room (which is my office space during the day given the current situation) looks onto the garden. One of the flats in front of us has a kid of maybe 8/9. We’re on friendly terms with parents and say hello etc.

The kid is obviously around all day and understandably bored. He plays football for a couple of hours a day. The problem is he uses a proper football and kicks it against the wall of his flat or worse the small brick outhouse where the bins are which is right next to my flat. Again and again and again. It’s getting incredibly annoying and distracting in a way that general noise of kids playing/kicking a football to each other rather than against a wall could be ignored - I guess because it’s just so loud and repetitive?

WIBU to ask them nicely to use a soft ball instead?

Yanbu. Fair is fair it is a reasonable request peak to a parent before mentioning it to the child.
