The virus is no longer a threat and we should all just get on with our lives.

That is exactly what my boss said to me yesterday when she asked me if I was still concerned about the virus and I had said yes, I was. She asked me this because I was putting on a mask to drive as I have to share a car with someone else (I wear the mask in line with government recommendations. The other passenger chooses not wear a mask, just me).
I told her that I was concerned that there will be a second wave in the autumn/winter and she replied with a ‘pfff! They are just saying that to scare us, I’m just getting on like normal. Anyhow, it is only a threat to the old and obese’.
Now, I admit that I am a worrier and this virus has freaked me out but surely she is being naive/blinkered to what is going on in the world? I believe that she thinks that as the government have lifted most restrictions that equates to the virus no longer being around! How can it no longer be a threat? It hasn’t gone anywhere, there isn’t any heard immunity yet and no extremely affective medication.
Just wondered if you were with me or my boss?
YES - YABU it’s on it’s way out
NO - It’s still a major threat to our health.

Ive just been reading that covid deaths have doubled to last week, and trebled to week previous to that. i would insist they wear a mask in the car with you and sit in seat furthest away from you as possible. It has not gone away!

I like very much what @NikeDeLaSwoosh said.

Spaceshiphaslanded · 11/07/2020 20:59

Your boss should not be saying this, it’s entirely unprofessionally and puts the business in a tricky situation if you were to come to harm from her advice. However - if it was a pal saying this, fine - i
Think a lot of people do now have this opinion.
Take your precautions and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, stay safe (all) xxx

Your boss is a demented sheeple. The 2nd wave is already in progress or why would Johnson’s own constituency have had to close their A&E with 70+ staff isolating and this not being the only occurrence like this last week. Yet the sheeple have to run to the pub etc, wtf?!

+1 @nikedelaswoosh

Only old and obese at risk? Ah of course so my then 8 year old who is slim didn't need to be in hospital for four days when she had it then 🙄 your boss is a numpty

If the son is disabled in any way that makes him a prime candidate for catching covid and coping and recovering from the illness. Their attitude makes no sense and certainly does not consider you or your close family if you catch it from him. He should wear a mask.

Gone away and normal life, just look at pubs, how many have had to close due to covid cases. Definetly insist this is not going away anytime soon.
