House I want is on for 88,000. It's perfect nothing wrong apart from a bit of woodworm in the attic (nothing serious). Would be a forever home. Wibu to offer 90,000 with the everything going on?

Offer whatever you'd pay for it but why would you offer more? What would be the possible benefit?
We had one house we really liked that was on for £235,000 - we offered £245,000 and they said no. House is still on the market six months later so I think they just didn't actually want to sell.

londongirl12 · 09/07/2020 20:36

Why would you offer more than they want for it??

wholelottahistory · 09/07/2020 20:38

In scotland?

CoRhona · 09/07/2020 20:40

We were in a bidding war and offered more than asking to be successful.

HogwartsForever11 · 09/07/2020 20:41

I would offer asking price and then you have somewhere to go if you have competition.

As an aside - Where can you buy a forever home for 90,000???

NoRoomInBed · 09/07/2020 22:02

In scotland 😊 I'll offer 88 and see what they say can always go up.

Def want to see it!!!

malmi · 09/07/2020 22:05

It works very differently in England, offering over the asking price is almost unheard of. You will get a lot of invalid advice on this thread.

Meredithgrey1 · 09/07/2020 22:16

£88,000?? £88,000???
You couldn't buy a sodding shed for that where I live!

goes off to google jobs and houses in scotland

NoRoomInBed · 09/07/2020 22:18

Kissmycousinkate · 09/07/2020 22:22

Thurso is lovely too, are you from there?

Gooseygoosey12345 · 09/07/2020 22:23

Couldn't buy a shed here either! Think we'll be looking for job transfers to Scotland Grin

NoRoomInBed · 09/07/2020 22:23

I'd be concerned that all the additional hits on the link to the house will make the Estate Agent and/or vendor think there is more interest - and want a higher price. It says newly added, perhaps the flurry of hits will cause them to hold out to see what other interest and offers they can get.

NoRoomInBed · 09/07/2020 22:29

I think they are going off views. It was added 2 days ago. So even with my offer they may wait to see what they get.
