To expect JET2 customer Services to answer the phone..?!

My son and his friends have a holiday booked to Tenerife on 19 July for 1 week, they have been constantly trying to get through on the customer services number to ask to postpone their holiday for a year.

They have only paid the deposit so far with the final balance due on 12th July.

I have read on forums that some holidays are being cancelled - do you think this holiday might be cancelled at this stage..?

I have also been trying to get through to JET 2 with no luck ! Not sure what we can do now ..?

Any advice appreciated TIA

If it had been cancelled they would have been in touch. That's what happened to me and everyone I know who had bookings with Jet2. I suspect it's going ahead.

Up to now, Jet2 have been very good at keeping people informed, cancelling holidays in date order and putting back the 'we are starting to fly' date 2 or 3 weeks in advance.

The fact that their website now says 'we're starting again on 15th July' - less than a week from now, and the link to cancel/postpone online has disappeared suggests that, this time they do intend to start again from next Wednesday, unless there's a huge unexpected turnaround between now and then, which isn't impossible, pre lockdown, they actually had people set off on flights that were turned around because the situation changed shortly after takeoff.

Which means that if they want to postpone their holiday, it will be subject to normal T&Cs, which might be very costly. Have they tried to do this online?

If they try via the above, someone might contact them, before the balance is due, but I won't hold my breath and maybe they should prepare to go on holiday in just over a week's time, as planned.

I don't think it will be cancelled. We wanted to move our August date but it was going to cost a per person admin fee and I would have to pay the additional costs as holidays for next year are more expensive. I chose to cancel and lost the deposit as it was more than 70 days until the holiday.

Isn't the cancellation fee 100% if you cancel within 2 weeks??

Has he tried Twitter or Facebook?

I would guess though that it's going ahead and he'd be subject to change fees

I think they would have informed him by now if they are cancelling.
I've a friend on a flight to Tenerife at the moment (not with Jet2), and it looks like the holiday scene there is up and running.

YANBU to expect someone to answer the phone, but it might take some time to get through.

I just had a look at their website vs how it looked a couple of months ago and I'd say that if they haven't contacted you already then they're off to Tenerife on the 19th. If they want to delay I would expect them to pay a hefty amendment fee.
