To feel disheartened about not losing weight but losing inches/sizes

I'm 8 months pp. I actually like how I look (I'm a size 8). I train five days a week and I'm conscious about how I eat. In two weeks I've lost a bit more than half a pound. (I've been consistently following my plan for 8-9 weeks now). I've lost a decent amount of inches (started as a large 10) and my waist is now around 27in. Yet I'm still classified as overweight. You can see my muscle tone and all of that and I know I'm healthy and again I think I'm more or less the size I want to be but staying overweight is starting to get to me.

I can't get over how rude some of the replies have been. BMI is accurate for most people unless you have a lot of muscle. Most people are now overweight, so seeing someone smaller doesn't mean they aren't technically overweight aswell.

Also, being size 8 isn't that slim if you are on the shorter side. When I was overweight (I'm 5'2), I could fit in size 8 despite my weight. However, from your pics OP you look lovely, very toned with muscles. I'd keep at it if you are losing inches, if you aren't happy with just losing inches then reassess your exercise/diet regimen if you want to lose weight rather than build muscle.

I think the problem is you don’t know how to weigh correctly.

Your daughter is 8months and weighs 40kgs?

I was able to carry my 40kg daughter

Fressia123 · 09/07/2020 20:08

Loch that's my 10 year old daughter....

Thanks baker I feel quite happy with how I look but it hunk because for most of my life I was fairly overweight/obese is that I find it hard to believe to be a "small" size but also a bit heavy.

I have some size 8’s in my wardrobe and there is no way I am. I have been the same size my whole adult life and used to be a 14. It then became a 12 and now I’m a 10. Vanity sizing to appease an obese nation.

I’m 5’7, run, work out and weigh 10st. I am short of leg!

Fressia123 · 09/07/2020 20:24

I'm not going to deny some vanity sizing. But I have clothes from 20 years ago, and they're way too big on me (size 12 from when I was 15).

Go and weigh yourself in Boots or something. Your scales may just be broken. I don’t think your muscle density can be that great that you weigh more than me.

Fressia123 · 09/07/2020 20:32

Oh wow @lljkk nobody has my measurements!

Where do you weigh yourself? With my scales, they vary by a couple of kilo depending on which part of the room I place them.
Yes, muscle is denser then fat and you look toned, but it doesn’t add to up to the weight you’ve given for your height so I think that’s the problem.

BMI is a generally good gauge for most people. It doesn’t work for athletes - but an athlete is someone working out 8+ hours a day, not an hour, 5 days a week.

Fressia123 · 09/07/2020 20:37

The scales are in the bathroom on the wooden floor. That did happen with my previous scales bit I don't think it's the same with these ones. I might go to boots...I did tell my husband something is off, he also appears as borderline overweight (according to BMI) and doesn't look that way at all.

However he has consistently been losing weight whereas I haven't.
