My ds 25 was told by his current mental health team back in February that they won’t going to transfer him to the team where we’ve moved to. They are now basically denying saying that and saying they will be transferring him to the other team. I thought now you had a choice in where you received health care. The team where we’ve moved to and the gp surgery is awful. He’s very upset by this and doesn’t understand why they are going back on what they said to him.

Sometimes they simply are unable to keep someone from a different area. They can aim to keep him with them but there’s no guarantee as people within their area’s treatment would likely be prioritised.

It really sucks and I had the same issue when I moved out of my Ex DP’s.

I hope he can find the best treatment soon

They have other people out of area though and also students who aren’t there year round.

Has anyone got any advice?

I work in admin at a mental health team and we can only see people in our designated area. If a client moves house then they are transferred to their new local team.
It’s to do with funding.
If we see someone from out of area we don’t get paid

Yes. In the trust i work for the areas for the MH teams are based on whuch GP surgery you’re registered at. So if you move house and change GP you would have to move to a different area team.
