t all started on Friday, I had mild stomach ache, thought maybe it was something I ate and didn’t think nothing of it. Then Saturday full blown diarrhoea and stomach pain. The diarrhoea stopped on Monday and since the pain has gotten worse and worse, I feel like I’m in labour. I can’t sleep, I can’t eat. Only thing that helps if I vomit and I feel better for 20-30 mins, then it all starts again. I haven’t eaten anything since Friday as I can’t keep anything down.

So far I’ve tried peppermint/ginger lemon tea, lots of water, gaviscon and the GP has prescribed Stemetil Prochlorperazine tablets. It takes the edge off, but nothing really helps.

Anything I could ask the GP to prescribe me? Could it be muscle spams in the stomach? I don’t have diarrhoea or anything like that, just severe stomach pain that won’t go away. It’s not dull period cramps, just awful pain

Hi all
Just a quick update. Went to A&E this morning, they took my blood pressure, urine and temperature and sent me to a ‘enhanced GP services’ the doctor there did the same tests, and said I have a urine infection and did a physical examination he said there might be something wrong with the gallbladder so sent me back to A&E to have a scan done and that’s where I’m going now. I’m so tired 😓

It could be gallstones! I was fobbed off because of my age and gender! Ask for a scan!

Lucozade2020 · 09/07/2020 20:15

Got home about an hour ago, they did a scan on my heart/chest, several blood tests and it all came back as normal. I don't have gallbladder infection, just urine infection which they've prescribed antibiotics for.

They said they've written to my GP so he can refer me to hospital to get a a scan to check for gallstones which they suspect it is.

I had an IV drip while waiting for the blood tests, they gave me codeine and buscopan. God, I feel so much better. I spent 7 hours in hospital but honestly I'm so glad I went and got checked, I wouldn't done it if it wasn't for you guys. It didn't even cross my mind to go to A&E, I just thought I'd chase GP for new prescriptions to try.

Did I tell you I had my first meal today that I still haven't thrown up? Normally it would be out within 30 mins, but an hour later and it's still in my stomach Grin

The A&E wasn't that bad, I got there at 10am, there were just a few people before me.

They've prescribed codeine, antibiotics and buscopan and honestly I feel like I can finally breathe/think.

Now I'm just waiting for my scan to check for gallstones. Thank you so much 😊

I’m so pleased you’ve been properly assessed OP and that you’re feeling more comfortable. Fingers crossed they find the underlying reason soon.

I had gallstones and sounds exactly like this. I ended up in A&E. sending sympathy as the pain was agonising.

Brookers01234 · 09/07/2020 22:59

My appendicitis was like this, not typical symptoms just generalised horrendous stomach pain, vomiting & diarrhoea. Went on for 5 days before I ended up with it rupturing so defo get checked out!

Starksforthewin · 09/07/2020 23:06

Why didn’t they scan your gall bladder whilst you were actually there in the hospital??
They’ve scanned some bits of you, so you were right there in radiology, but they’re going to send you back to your GP to make a referral for a gall bladder scan?
What a tremendous waste of resources.
