So I’ve got a lovely, comfortable leather couch. It was originally buttermilk coloured, but had got very sad and grotty looking. I bought a dark brown leather dye to revive it.
I did the research and today I went for it.
First off a good scrubbing to get it clean, then scrubbed with green scouring pad and nail polish remover to get rid of the sealer.
I had heavy duty gloves to wear while I put the dye on to protect my hands.
3 hours later and the couch looks amazing, but somehow I managed to get the dye all over my face and now I look like an Umpa Lumpa.
How the hell do I get this shit off??
I’ve already tried exfoliating and it hasn’t helped at all.

Nail varnish remover? But ouch!.

Sure I've read something about toothpaste too ( although I could just be going mad)

ShyTown · 07/07/2020 20:58

Oh no!! Try baby oil? I did and at home colour gloss on my hair without wearing gloves and it worked perfectly to sort my hands out. As a last resort slather your body in fake tan and then at least you’ll be a consistent colour all over!

Can you get some pink leather dye for your face 😂

Other shades available of course.

Bodgedboxdye · 07/07/2020 21:03

Flash? The kitchen one?

Rose789 · 07/07/2020 21:20

Face wash face wash and some more face wash. Dermaplaning could lighten it some as it will take the dead skin off.
On the dye is there a website/telephone number or email address? Contact the company direct and ask for their advice.
In the meantime apply for a job at Cadbury’s?

Oh my goodness! I don't know what to suggest, is it just splashes or all over?

I'd be a bit worried it'll cause irritation.

Parmavioletgin1 · 07/07/2020 21:28

Can we see a photo ( just to ensure we give the best advice) 😁

AriettyHomily · 07/07/2020 21:31

Alcohol gel, my solution to everything at the moment

littlelilypad · 07/07/2020 21:33

Clean and clear toner! It's my go-to when my fake tan has gone wrong

lookatmememe · 07/07/2020 21:48

Oh, put some on your legs and arms to match ? ( not helping and obvs a joke, sorry !) hope it comes off ok

Fishfingersandwichplease · 07/07/2020 21:48

Tell everyone you have developed a new cough and have to self isolate for at least 2 weeks!! Should have faded by then!

Theresapossibility · 07/07/2020 21:50

I think you need to post a picture so we can see the full extent of your predicament

LaurieFairyCake · 07/07/2020 21:51

100% need a photo Grin

Promise not to laugh..

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 07/07/2020 22:02

Contact your local hair salon. Mine uses a remover fluid to remove excess hair dye from my hair line and ears after colouring. That might do it.

I’m back from my bath. Thank you all for your advice.
I went with the oil option, Rituals sugar scrub, then the shower oil and left it on while I had a good long soak. And...it shifted itGrin
Sorry, no pics of the face but here’s a before and after of the couch , just because I’m so pleased with how it turned out

Grin there you go I bought 2 of the 950ml bottles. I’ve almost used one bottle for the first coat. Today I need to buff it then do a second coat and then seal it to stop the dye transferring.
