While driving down a main road in my usual Miss Daisy style. A boy of about five and who I presume to be his sister of about three walk across the road I nearly hit them both. I expect an adult to jump out from somewhere but that doesn't happen.
I drive a bit further and pull in, still no adult they are just about to go in the park with a large pond. I jump out of my car and approach the children asking them where their parent is or where they live no answer on their shocked faces. The little boy points across the road at a house so I offer him my hand and he takes it. The little girl starts crying so I scoop her up as she would run into the road. I take them over to the other side near the house to be met by their mum screaming at me asking what Im doing with her kids. I explain that they crossed the road and were at risk of being killed. In my opiion an easy mistake on her part and she was probably stressed but I felt there was no need to shout at me.

I think she was probably just freaking out in panic. I would probably feel the same if I saw a stranger pick up my child. Did she mean to let them cross the road by themselves?
