To be worried about universal credit

I've been furloughed since march, due to be made redundant at end of month.

I've really struggled with bills over the past four months and so completed an application for backdated UC yesterday. I also have to move soon as landlord is selling up.

Because I've applied for backdated UC, on the date I'm made redundant should I just ring UC and tell them to adjust my claim accordingly as then I will have no income at all. They won't seem to deal with me until the day I'm officially unemployed. I'm really worried about the future and found out yesterday that each job I've applied for has had over 300 applications for each.

Sorry about your situation OP, I was in the same boat back in March.

They processed my claim soon as I was unemployed then my payments were reduced first month as I received my redundancy pay, which was pitiful I may add!

On the upside I had an interview today and another tomorrow so things are starting to move again! Best of luck x

UC don't accept any information before the date it happens. The system won't accept future dates for anything other than telling them you have an interview.
You can't tell them in advance about your redundancy, you have to wait for the actual day then use your online portal to report a change of circumstances.

UC will not backdate your claim. It will start from the date it is received.
