To ask if your school have confirmed return dates yet for September

cocktailoclock · 07/07/2020 08:45

Just that - have your school given you a definite return date for your child?
We have two kids that have been years that haven't gone back and I am desperate to give them certainty.

(Should add we are in England in a borough with a very low transmission rate)

Yes. They've given us a lot of detail. My kids now have a return date and who their next teacher is. They will spend week1 in their old classroom with their old teacher. They will go into their new classroom and new teacher on week2.

On week2 the new Reception class will then start.

salemcat · 07/07/2020 08:48

We have but are in Scotland.

onemouseplace · 07/07/2020 08:49

Not yet, although we expect to hear who their new teachers are today or tomorrow.

Nothing about dates - I've been assuming they'll be back on the usual start of term date. I'm half hoping they might have a staggered start so we could get away that first week of September.

Choice4567 · 07/07/2020 08:50

Yes, confirmed classes and dates yesterday

Firebolt2020 · 07/07/2020 08:51

No. They’ve given a holding message saying that they are looking into how it will work for September and will in touch when they can with further details.
I’m with you on the wanting some certainty - although in our house it’s me more than the kids that struggle with the uncertainty.

GinDrinker00 · 07/07/2020 08:52

Yes. In lots of detail too.

I am counting down the days, excited doesn’t cut it.

TokyoSushi · 07/07/2020 08:53

Our school have said that they're posting it all out next Monday.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 07/07/2020 08:53

DS1's school - a senior school - have. They sent out an email yesterday explicitly stating that they want every single child back without exception, will be clamping down on uniform, and will be punishing non-attendance "to the fullest extent".

Their email also mentions they'll be taking the temperature of students daily, enforcing hand washing at the beginning of every lesson and will send home every student who has any symptom for the required two week isolation, no exceptions. Given that October/November brings about the start of cold/flu season I can't imagine how many students will be sent home every time they sneeze or cough. DS1 has Autism and often runs a higher temperature than most other people in our family - he generally runs at 38.1 despite being very fit and well - I know already they'll see that and think "send him home" which he won't cope with because he's already concerned about how much school he's missed despite working hard at home each day.

DS2's school - a primary - haven't confirmed yet. I'm sure they'll follow suit and want the whole school in, but won't word it in the same way and, in all honesty, are a better school for it.

TheGroak · 07/07/2020 08:54

No and I haven’t even mentioned to DC the possibility of going back in September. It’s a tiny village school, already full to capacity with keyworker kids and I just don’t see how it can work.
She really needs to go back though.

formerbabe · 07/07/2020 08:55

No idea

DomDoesWotHeWants · 07/07/2020 08:58

Local comp has sent out a holding message. It's an old building and they don't see how they can open to all with social distancing for adults safety. Looking at half time for all pupils.

BlusteryLake · 07/07/2020 09:02

Yes, both our schools all children back full time in full uniform and with Plan B laptop purchase specifications sent out.

Haggisfish · 07/07/2020 09:06

Yes for school dc go to and school I work in. All students back in for both-they have to be, so schools won’t be able run half groups on a rota @DomDoesWotHeWants. Staff may have to remain in separate classroom-we have no staff rooms any more!Shock

DomDoesWotHeWants · 07/07/2020 12:38

The head has the backing of the governors and most of the parents who can see the impossible situation. Very old, not enough loos. Tiny rooms.

I feel so sorry for them they have worked so hard to support home learning. Very dedicated staff.

blue25 · 07/07/2020 12:39

No, ours is looking like a staggered start though which is annoying.

LEELULUMPKIN · 07/07/2020 12:44

Not dates but I was overjoyed yesterday to find out that DS 15 will be having the same teacher next year.

I have no idea how it will happen though as he attends an SEN school where social distancing is just not an option.

happymummy12345 · 07/07/2020 12:50

My son is starting reception in September. His school sent an email yesterday confirming everything (assuming nothing changes for the worse between now and then).
Made me a bit emotional if I'm honest. Obviously it's not how I wanted him starting school to go, but I still can't quite believe the time has come. Feels much more real now it's all confirmed.

HavingAMoan · 07/07/2020 12:52

Not yet, will hear this week. Mine go anyway as we’ve both been working.

cocktailoclock · 07/07/2020 12:52

@blue25 Primary or secondary????

OP posts:
FelicityPike · 07/07/2020 12:53

Yes, 12th August, but we’re in Scotland.

Educationwhateducation · 07/07/2020 12:55

No not yet. We have had confirmation of class teachers for next year and the children will be doing three days in school over the last couple of weeks for transition classes. Just no confirmation of return dates, start and finish times or ‘bubbles arrangements.

RedskyAtnight · 07/07/2020 12:56

No, but in fairness they don't usually send out "back to school" information until the end of August.

blue25 · 07/07/2020 12:56

@cocktailoclock

Secondary

Cheekychop84 · 07/07/2020 12:57

Our school has the start date for September. They sent a reminder that full uniform and school shoes were expected with all pe lessons taking place outside so tracksuits in black or grey and white trainers were to be sent in too. Not really anything about social distancing (hugely difficult in our old school) but mention of staggered start, finish and lunch times. There was a huge emphasis on school full time from September was the best place for children. We're south east.

Drivingdownthe101 · 07/07/2020 12:57

Yes, August 25th (England). I know who their teachers will be, what classroom they’ll be in and the assumption unless anything changes before then is that it will be full time.
