To ask if your school have confirmed return dates yet for September

Just that - have your school given you a definite return date for your child?
We have two kids that have been years that haven't gone back and I am desperate to give them certainty.

(Should add we are in England in a borough with a very low transmission rate)

Nope nothing no teacher details, start date, start and finish times or anything I asked them for the details 2 weeks ago and they said they would message last week and still nothing I'm really disappointed with them. I start work and only just manage to get there for 9.45am with a 9am start so I need to know if I will have to inform them that I will be starting later etc. It's very frustrating!

Cecilia2016 · 07/07/2020 20:38

My year 1 son going to year 2 September school says the school will be opening to year 1 & year 2 on 7 th September and they break up next week Friday 17th.

timeforawine · 07/07/2020 20:39

Ours is planning on 9th, a full time return for all, just a case of see what happens between now and then.
Hope its a full time, my daughter is so excited to start school

Hibbetyhob · 07/07/2020 20:40

Yes. Primary in England. Have known next year’s teachers since half term (many are going up with their classes) and term start date confirmed this week.

pinkpixie83 · 07/07/2020 20:40

Nothing from either a primary school my boys attend or my daughter's secondary 🤷‍♀️

Hercwasonaroll · 07/07/2020 20:41

How the hell do primary expect parents to cope with Reception not being back until the end of September? They won't be able to attend nursery any more. Who has that much childcare? I'd be kicking off big time.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 07/07/2020 20:42

Yes, 26th August here for Y2. They have been clear in the letter that it's subject to whatever the government decide over the course of the next 7 weeks though and that they can't guarantee anything.

Private secondary: everyone is expected back irl on sept 4.
My risk assessment (now): if we have the same levels as now: no way.

HeadSpin5 · 07/07/2020 20:55

Yep primary plans received last week, we know teachers, start dates, etc.

Rosebel · 07/07/2020 21:05

We're in England and got our return dates yesterday for secondary school. They are going back a week later than usual but so glad we have a date (8th September).
Still waiting for their guidance on start /finish /lunch times but they have said they'll announce that next week.

BillyAndTheSillies · 07/07/2020 21:07

Nothing. DS1 starts school in September and we know nothing.

No proposed start dates, no information on teacher, school visits not permitted (understandably) but no mention of doorstep visits or phone calls from the new teacher. We seem to be the only school locally where there has been no suggestion of getting to know the teachers or children.

They also have a new head starting in September so I'm guessing they're trying to work out a semblance of normality first.

Feellikedancingyeah · 07/07/2020 21:58

Had an e mail to say they are waiting to hear about guidelines. They are planning normal timetables but also have contingency planning in place. Interested to see what will happen with the fleet of buses that bring the kids from all over the city and home again. They are packed to standing room every day

solidaritea · 07/07/2020 22:04

@Boulshired

solidaritea no they are going to start introducing children during the autumn term by risk assessment to reach full intake as soon as possible (so not immediately). I have his last risk assessment, he will not be back in September.
That's a shame. Hopefully your DS will be able to be back soon.

I don't normally advocate for causing a fuss because I'm very bad at it myself, but do bear in mind that schools are currently being told that all children should be back as usual in September. So if you did want to make a fuss, you'd have the backing of the guidance. Obviously depends how staggered they're thinking.

Feellikedancingyeah · 07/07/2020 22:07

@Rosebel why a week late ? Have they given any reason for that?

cocktailoclock · 07/07/2020 22:12

Thanks all - a huge range of experiences here.
We have heard nothing - no transition plans, teachers or start date. No time in classroom to ease the transition like others have mentioned. I rang today and the office seemed surprised that parents and children would need to know to make plans

We've gone from 2 day inset to 4 days of training and all years back Mon 8th. Some of this is to allow Y7 in for a day alone on the Friday.

claireyjs · 07/07/2020 22:14

Yes, we've had reports and new teachers confirmed today

Lougle · 07/07/2020 22:18

Year 7 start Friday 4th September; all other years Monday 7th September. Our school always has this system. All tutor group teachers confirmed today by email.

slothbyday · 07/07/2020 22:21

We are one of the counties that usually return a week earlier than everyone else (and finish this Friday for summer) - the la have suggested to schools to delay return to 1september which ours is looking to take up. Nothing confirmed yet though.

Rosebel · 08/07/2020 08:36

I'm not really sure why it's a week late but the first 3 days are for teachers only and then Thursday and Friday is for Y7 and Y11 only.

TillyFloss10 · 08/07/2020 08:51

Most schools should start sending out this information soon, further guidance was published by the government on Thursday so once schools have a plan they should start sending them out. Lots of schools will not have sent out detailed information before this as their plans may have had to change following this.

LibrariesGiveUsPower · 08/07/2020 08:53

No nothing. Don’t know what class or teacher or anything 😕

listsandbudgets · 08/07/2020 08:58

DDs secondary have said barring further government interference they expect to be open as normal in September.

DSs primary are all back now though with staggered start and finish so we assume they have the same policy as DDs regarding September.

Gizlotsmum · 08/07/2020 13:34

Just had an email about breakfast club requirements but no indication of if school will be back fully so hard to answer really....
