I'm so bored!! There's only so much TV I can watch.

Not at work at the moment. DC are older so look after themselves mainly.

I need a hobby I actually want to do that is

a) extremely inexpensive. think say £20 a month
b) isn't really crafty or arty cause I'm not good at stuff like that

I'm a bit sad in that my only passion is history. I love all things history. I also like finding out about other cultures. I like cooking but I'm on a really small budget so can't really indulge it as my dinners all have to be made from the same ingredients and I have a shit cooker.

I need something I am interested in that takes at least an hour or two a day.

AIBU to ask you for suggestions on something I can do??

@buckeejit oh you need to give it a go! Honestly it's so addictive! They're like mini works of art and there's so much to learn. Oh and not as difficult as you may imagine but the watering of them is something else! Up to three times a day in hot weather but you get to know your trees! Mustn't ever let them dry out

I have Chinese elms a sweet plum , a Japanese maple and a flowering tea tree. One I keep outdoors the others in sunny but not scorching spots

Start small and easy with a Chinese elm. Mine were varying prices , one was £150, but i then picked up a nice one from these guys www.bonsai.co.uk/search.php?mode=search&page=5. £25! Total bargain. Lots to choose from so honestly, bite the bullet and go for it. Soon you'll want another ... and another ..

How about researching and writing a blog or book idea that combines your love of food and history. You could research old cookbooks or how food and cultures combine, or the history of street food or something.

Do you mean whilst most of the country is staying at home ?

Researching your family tree seems a good place to start.
Or volunteering..... local food bank... befriending services (phone calls to people on their own)

Or do you mean once groups start to meet together again ?
In which case the world is your oyster.

We signed up to Ancestry. It takes a lot of time initially though as you get so hooked!

I'd say Zooniverse as its my favourite... but its not very sociable (yaaay) so may suit you as an additional hobby to a group.

@TAKESNOSHITSHIRLEY I've always wondered about doing this and set up an email account specifically a couple of years ago with a plan to start doing online competitions. I never really started though!

Can I ask, do you just Google to find them or is there a website that you go to?
