If you can’t get it up because you’re rich just secretly film some women in the bathroom- you won’t go to priosn

Belfast live link

This man sexually assaulted an unconscious woman, assaulted another woman and secretly filmed numerous other girls and women in a bathroom over a period of 15 years. But no prison time- despite been deemed to have a medium risk of reoffending.

Look at his justification for the offences.

During sentencing, it emerged Anderson suffered a medical condition linked to erectile disfunction. He claimed the making and viewing the secret recordings helped him achieve arousal.

He claims that being dubbed ‘The Rich Kid’ at school had impacted his self-esteem.

Hmm

What the actual fuck is wrong with our justice system that a self confessed predatory serial sex offender is allowed to exist freely in our society having served zero prison time?

Can women ever expect justice for male violence?

That's awful Small. He's been doing it for 15 years and just gets away with it. Surely the assault warrants a custodial sentence.

Smallsteps88 · 06/07/2020 12:03

You would have thought so. I imagine his guilty plea was in exchange for no jail time.

OP posts:
Smallsteps88 · 06/07/2020 12:04

Although I’m not sure they would have needed a guilty plea with so much footage.

JaneJeffer · 06/07/2020 12:10

I see a couple of headlines on that page of similar appeals for lenient sentences in sexual assault cases. It's disgusting what women have to go through to get justice.

Smallsteps88 · 06/07/2020 12:11

Why would any woman bother reporting when you see those cases?

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 06/07/2020 12:16

And what about his victims self esteem

Ffs once again sexual assault on women is played down because a poor man can’t help himself

It’s so entrenched from religion to modern day attitudes

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 06/07/2020 12:38

Public Prosecutor is appealing. I'd expect this will be overturned. It's one outlier example, hence why it's headline news. It's not 'the norm' by any stretch.

LillianBland · 06/07/2020 12:40

You know how long the women of (NI) have had to fight for the right to have an abortion. It shouldn’t surprise you that men’s hurt feelings are being rolled out as more important that a woman’s right to feel safe and respected.

fuckinghellapeacock · 06/07/2020 12:49

FFS.
She asked for it. She liked it rough. I couldn't help it. It is not my fault. People were mean to me.
FUCK OFF

Smallsteps88 · 06/07/2020 13:08

No, not surprised. Appalled and angry. Normal reaction to this. Just voicing it. Which I think is fine.

I'd expect this will be overturned.

Let’s hope so.

Yep. Man feels sad/angry/depressed= women get assaulted.

Who are the 7% who said you were being unreasonable about this?

Scoobydoobywho · 06/07/2020 13:33

Considering that there was a case of rape over in America, where the judge told the victim if she had kept her legs closed she wouldn't have been raped. So I'm not really surprised how women are treated by the judicial system. Angry

Smallsteps88 · 06/07/2020 13:48

where the judge told the victim if she had kept her legs closed she wouldn't have been raped.

Shock

Although I’m not sure why I am shocked anymore.

Where/when was this @Scoobydoobywho?

LakieLady · 06/07/2020 13:54

Pleased to see the prosecutor is challenging this. This guy is plainly a nasty, predatory misogynist.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 06/07/2020 14:22

We need laws that state that for particular crimes a judge cannot impose a suspended sentence.

Porcupineinwaiting · 06/07/2020 14:25

Sorry, I don't quite follow. Are you suggesting his need for sexual relief should be less important than womens need for safety and privacy?

What a strange and revolutionary idea. Cant see it gaining much traction.

Pepperwort · 06/07/2020 14:29

Yep. Man feels sad/angry/depressed= women get assaulted.

And of course the reverse doesn't hold true. Women get assaulted, therefore are sad/ angry / depressed. Would we all get away with it if we assaulted men in these numbers for that reason? At the moment such cases make headline news because it's a very rare occurrence. I can't really imagine what would happen if we all started using that excuse.

AryaStarkWolf · 06/07/2020 14:30

The more I hear cases like these, the more I realise that most men, on some level think, it's not that bad for women to be raped or sexually assaulted and that men's sexual gratification is more important

AryaStarkWolf · 06/07/2020 14:33

Considering that there was a case of rape over in America, where the judge told the victim if she had kept her legs closed she wouldn't have been raped. So I'm not really surprised how women are treated by the judicial system

Or that case where the American college student was given a light sentence after raping an unconscious woman because - he had a bright future ahead of him and he didn't want this incident to spoil that for him

ConkerGame · 06/07/2020 14:37

YANBU I am so exhausted from all this shit. We need majority female judges.

Monkeynuts18 · 06/07/2020 14:47

@NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite

We do, in effect - we have the sentencing guidelines - but this sort of offence is one where the judge can impose a suspended sentence.

Unfortunately if the laws and guidelines are written by people who don’t value women either, then it makes no difference whatsoever what they say.

Fucking hell! He’s absurd! Those comments “master of straight face” Hmm so glad they were unanimous in voting to have him removed. He should be nowhere near victims.
