Lady author sacked for supporting JKR

Saw this in the newspaper and then searched and found this thread in the feminist board...

But I feel like you lovelies want to read it too.

Lady author's employer was sent a load of emails to get her sacked. Could we not do the same to get her reinstated? We mummies are the book buyers after all.

If nothing else the unfair dismissal is vile.

There's a certain irony in the way some women in this threat have chosen to pile on another woman and attack rather than address the issue at hand. People speak in different ways and use different expressions. Sometimes I find it annoying too. If you get rid of the massive chip on your shoulder you should have room for some manners and be able to listen regardless, or do the folk on this thread police general conversation in real life too?

Jesus. Mean.

SideEyeing · 05/07/2020 20:34

Thread not threat.

Sidalee7 · 05/07/2020 21:14

I hope you are ok OP and are not taking too much notice of the horrible comments aimed towards you.
How sisterly of those keyboard warriors.
I don’t like the Mummy/lady labelling either either but these comments are massively bitchy and uncalled for.

Putting the wording to the side, I'm confused by the term 'employer.' Authors sign contracts with their publishers, sometimes for a single book, sometimes for more and receive an advance and royalties. They aren't employed and can't be fired.

IhateBoswell · 05/07/2020 21:38

Utterly disgraceful that she been sacked. I'm going to look up her work.

FlamingoAndJohn · 05/07/2020 21:43

I shall look her up.
I’m not a mummy though, am I allowed to buy books?

Mammatino · 05/07/2020 21:49

Disgraceful. I wanted to buy one of her books but I didn’t want my money to go the arsehole publisher. I don’t mind being called a lady.

Chris Snowdon, managing director of Working Partners, said: ‘Erin Hunter is not a single person but a diverse team of creatives and writers

'We recently became aware that Gillian Philip had associated the Erin Hunter pen-name with her personal views on Twitter, thus associating them with the whole collective.

'In light of this situation, the decision was taken to no longer work with Gillian Philip.

‘The decision taken was not in direct response to the nature of Gillian’s personally expressed views.’
