So I have the opportunity today to pop into our local town, I need to get some clothes for my little boy who is 5 weeks old. I will be wearing a face mask and he will be in his pram and we will be social distancing. Do you think it'll be okay to take him in?

You could always drape a muslin over your pram - totally normal. Thing is some people just can't stay away from a baby. Is there no one who could mind him?

dementedpixie · 05/07/2020 11:05

Can he be left at home with anyone? If not, then he should be safe enough in his pram

bestbrowsintown · 05/07/2020 11:05

Of course it's ok to take him. Just be willing to ask anyone who approaches him to keep their distance

ComeOnEileen11 · 05/07/2020 11:06

You'll and he will be fine. I've had to do the same and people have stayed away from my pram.

Put the rain cover over if you're particularly worried.

forevercurious · 05/07/2020 11:07

I’ve used the rain cover for the pram when I’ve had to take DS into a shop. It’s made me feel a lot better that he’s protected that way.

Could you wear baby in a sling?

ToBBQorNotToBBQ · 05/07/2020 11:08

I think it's fine. My sisters just had a baby and has had to take him out to the shops along with her 7 year old as her partner works long hours. Shes the one queued at Lidl as soon as the doors open at silly o'clock.

dementedpixie · 05/07/2020 11:10

baby would be safer in the pram than in a sling at face height

UnilakTea · 05/07/2020 11:11

Thanks everyone I feel much more reassured! Unfortunately there isn't anyone else to mind him at the moment. Poor thing is growing so quick he needs clothes otherwise I'll be sewing together clothes to make them fit!

I can't see the risk of transmission, by him being in a supermarket. What's your reasoning for wearing a face mask?

dementedpixie · 05/07/2020 11:23

Its advised to wear a mask in shops is it not?

Thismummyruns · 05/07/2020 11:23

Completely. I've had to go to the supermarket with both mine, no option to leave them with anyone.
If you are extra worried could you order online?
