To be increasingly angry at the inconsistent approach to reopening of things????

Read a very interesting article in the guardian yesterday about how nail bars/beauty salons are predominantly staffed and used by women so have just been dismissed by the government.

Also, swimming pools and gyms - they are not as big a sector as pubs so have not had much of a say. There are huge benefits to them reopening - in terms of people mental and physical health. My dd can’t do her sport and yet people can get drunk in streets and pubs and be very close together. How is that fair?

Coronovirus was spreading a lot in gyms, they'd have to look at their hygiene a great deal, but no, yanbu. It's about money, not welfare, like most things I'm afraid 😢

Gyms and leisure centres are obvious. Sharing changing rooms, likely to be breathing more heavily whilst exercising, touching equipment which is harder for staff to ensure is cleaned between uses etc. Nails and beauty your clients are facing you, arguably nail bars are easy enough as you can put up screens, wear PPE and so even when facing someone it wouldn't be as much of a risk. Beauty is a lot more contact heavy, and for massages, brows etc you cannot really do that with full PPE or behind screens- both arguably are less utilised and as 'important' as hairdressers. My friend owns a beauty salon, she wouldn't be able to offer most of her treatments safely, so as much as she would love to open it's actually better to still be recieving some support.
