Oh and anyone who lives in another country and starts bashing Britain, but refuses to say where the wonderful country is they live in and are comparing it to

Urgh yes! Everything the U.K. does is shit but every other country in the world is perfect and has no problems at all! I always assume people who think this are extremely dim and must have never travelled anywhere

rayoflightboy · 05/07/2020 14:51

Posters who start reverse threads,why?

Posters who blame everything on ASD and dementia No maybe them people are arseholes.

The way that women are always right, even when they're obviously not.

The LTB brigade, they're not interested in the woman saving her relationship, they just want her to what she's told.By them

Sparklingbrook · 05/07/2020 14:56

@GimmeAy

Line eyes threads to the person who asked are threads where the OP posts a photo of their stick they've peed on and ask whether you can see 2 lines to confirm whether they're pregnant or not.
There's never 2 lines but the OP gets congratulated on their pregnancy and the people that said they couldn't see a line get told to go to Specsavers.
giantangryrooster · 05/07/2020 15:09

To be fair a lot of Britain bashing posters appears to be British, or British expats.

I think a lot of foreign posters on MN are here because we are a little anglophile, myself included.

Your view of how 'europeans' are, is sometimes quite baffling and your assumption that whether we are Italian or Scandinavian we will be alike is down right wrong Confused.

MitziK · 05/07/2020 15:21

Could I be pregnant? Yes, assuming you aren't a 14 year old in 1st Century Judea who needs to come up with a convincing explanation , you've obviously had sex, you're an adult woman, go and piss on a stick rather than asking me to tap into my psychic powers.

Line eyes, please - Just do another one in a couple of days.

ima doin a 106 line post about mi awfol liv - I get you aren't particularly literate. I want to at least try and help. But oh, God, it's bloody hard to find the bit where, in amongst the stream of consciousness about the dog and your Auntie's cousins and the neighbour that looked at you a bit funny in the morning, your boyfriend beat the shit out of you last night. It's infuriating because they've been failed at some point in their education and are barely able to articulate their own abuse - what chance do they have?

The obvious ED related posts. Not necessarily because the OP has an ED - but because of the others who post saying words to the effect of 'you ate a WHOLE slice of bread this week? You have no self control and are probably disgustingly fat'.

The illness ones where somebody comes on to tell you that everything will be cured if you cut out entire food groups. That works for Coeliac Disease, but it really doesn't for the common cold or a broken fingernail.

I'm sure there are others that will occur to me, but they're the ones that come to mind first.

bluebluezoo · 05/07/2020 15:29

Oh yes- also food related are the “not enough protein” evangelists who think cutting carbs is the answer to everything.

Usually accompanied by some pseudoscience waffle about insulin, glucose spikes and fat storage. Which sounds good to a lay person, but only demonstrates a complete lack of in depth understanding of metabolic process.

Can’t argue with them though. They’ve done all their research from t’interweb.

3cats · 05/07/2020 15:33

Oh, you eat 800 kcals a day? That's loads!! I would gain tons of weight if I ate that much. I never eat more than 600 kcals a days and I eat loads.

I swear Mumsnetters must have the slowest metabolisms.

IcedPurple · 05/07/2020 15:43

Which is interesting because so many of the British posters here seem to think that Britain is hell on earth and unnamed 'other countries' are perfect.

Yes! A frightened and traumatised OP posts for support. Posters demand she LTB straight away, berating her off the thread when she doesn't. It's easy to say LTB but in reality doing it isn't always so simple.
ThatLibraryMiss · 05/07/2020 15:59

The illness ones where somebody comes on to tell you that everything will be cured if you cut out entire food groups.

The CMP allergy ones. Look, I know that many people who are not of European descent have lactose intolerance, but that is not an allergy. Feeling terribly bloated after the milky coffee you had with your large breakfast is not a symptom of CMP allergy. It's a sign that you shouldn't have had that second fried slice.

MolyHolyGuacamole · 05/07/2020 16:22

Beginning any thread with 'name changed for this', I really don't care.

But can anyone actually explain what's the point of changing your name if you then follow it with a 'famous' thread you've posted? Because a quick google of 'Mumsnet penis beaker' will show me your original name. Or am I missing something?

ShebaShimmyShake · 05/07/2020 17:57

They're not naming threads they've posted, they're posting names of famous threads to prove they're not new.

Yes to the "line eyes" threads. I can almost never see a second line and am amazed at how certain most posters are that there is one and pregnancy is certain. I know it's really tough to wait and try again, but if you really don't know if there's a line there, and you have the best possible view, then that's what you're going to have to do. So many posters are testing stupidly early in their cycles anyway; again, I know it's hard to wait but if you're only going to get something that's inconclusive at best...you're just going to have to!

giantangryrooster · 05/07/2020 18:10

They haven't posted the threads they refer, they are simply trying to say they have been on MN so long, they have followed those threads.

Doesn't say anything really, everybody references the same threads, so it doesn't vouch for posters not being trolls.

ShebaShimmyShake · 05/07/2020 18:34

Oh for an edit button...by "stupidly early", I didn't mean to imply that posters were stupid for testing early, though for several reasons I think it is best to wait until you're more likely to get a clear and reliable result. I just meant it to be used as an intensifier.

AdditionalCharacter · 05/07/2020 18:35

Currently, those who use the YANBU/YABU buttons as some sort of voting system really piss me off. Use the AIBU for what it was originally designed for, not some sort of point system.

Tinyandpetite · 05/07/2020 18:39

The ones who reply with - hun xxxx Angry

LadyCatStark · 05/07/2020 19:18

I have a few more to add:

“Reader, I married him.” 🤢
Posters who suggest that any minor good fortune, such as a small windfall, should be donated to charity or the food bank.
Posters who can’t understand that not everyone lives in a middle class bubble (mostly found on threads about tipping or whether someone should pay for everyone’s meal in a restaurant for their birthday).
Posters who ask for baby name ideas but never comment on which suggestions they like.

rayoflightboy · 05/07/2020 19:32

Posters who go on the scary story thread and piss on everyone's chips. You don't have to go on those threads, they're not compulsory.

mbosnz · 05/07/2020 19:37

Eye ores.

ShebaShimmyShake · 05/07/2020 19:44

@mbosnz

Eye ores.
What are those?
mbosnz · 05/07/2020 19:46

Eye ores are like Eye ore in Winnie the Pooh, all doom and gloom and woe is me, and it's way worse for me, no matter what, because I'm me, and it's just not fair.

mbosnz · 05/07/2020 19:47

Misspelt and one word, Eeyore. . . idiot mbosnz!

ShebaShimmyShake · 05/07/2020 19:47

Oh, Eeyore. Yes, I know what you mean.

bluebluezoo · 05/07/2020 19:47

Eeyore?

As in piglet and pooh?

Makes more sense!

ShebaShimmyShake · 05/07/2020 19:48

@mbosnz

Misspelt and one word, Eeyore. . . idiot mbosnz!
I thought perhaps it was some kind of health condition and wondered why you'd be annoyed at people posting about their eyes!
