Holiday in wales?

There is a holiday to Wales booked in a few weeks time, for a large family group to stay together in one large self catered house. There will be 40-45 people from 15 separate households all under the same roof. AIBU to think this will be cancelled? The family is from England if it makes any difference.

And if it isn't cancelled, would you go?

You are bringing together 15 households. The rules in wales state 2 households so I don't think this would be allowed

I’d say it’s highly unlikely that in a matter of a few weeks the rules will change from two households indoors to 15 households indoors!

Even if the rules are relaxed for August I doubt it would be relaxed by that much in such a short space of time. Esp in Wales which is moving at a more cautious pace than England. There’s nothing in the rate of rule relaxations that suggest this will be permitted by August. If bigger wedding receptions are not allowed then surely this won’t be.

@Darcydashwood

Yes I agree. I doubt it will be allowed.

@ipooedinthesink

Very strange post. Wales is beautiful.

Unfortunately some of the group still expect to be able to go, and still want to go. I can't imagine it being much of a holiday as things stand.

I would not go. I would not have agreed to the holiday to begin with, much as I have good relationships with other family members.

Well there's no issue with getting along in this particular family, they spend a week or two together every summer. This is just about the coronavirus issue.

Defer the booking until next year. I get the impression you think the trip will still go ahead whatever the rules.

BoxOfBabyCheeses · 07/07/2020 15:06

I haven't RTFT but I live in Wales. Please don't bring 15 households here. We have managed to keep the virus under control. See the daily figures for yesterday.

I do have a feeling it will still go ahead. I'm not 'bringing' 15 households. I agree it's a bad idea. I have no control of this, only my own household.

You do. You could contact the company to casually ask about the restrictions for 15 households so they are actually aware and can cancel the booking.

You are just a booking on the system to them, I doubt their software would identify how many households you’ve come from. It would be totally irresponsible to just let all these families gather in, what has so far, been an area with relatively low figures.

knobblykneesandturnedouttoes · 07/07/2020 22:23

I hadn't thought of that. Not sure of the company but I do know the address so I think I'll wait until the end of this week and call them.

And you're right, I don't think they know how many households, it's booked under one persons name. Although it was done over the phone so I'm sure it will have come up in the conversation.

Did you all go? If so, what area was it? Just curious

knobblykneesandturnedouttoes · 19/09/2020 21:34

No, in the end we were luckily able to postpone it until next summer. Such a relief. It was north wales not sure of the town.
