Ideas for retirement hamper

annie987 · 04/07/2020 21:37

Our male boss is retiring and we are making him a novelty hamper containing items that retired men will need (all very tongue in cheek obviously).
So far we have slippers, reading glasses, werthers originals, socks, large print crossword book and a pipe.

Does anyone have any ideas of any other cheap things we could put in? Thanks

A pill box? A jar of cocoa or Horlicks?

Something for the garden, trowel etc

Sorry but if I were him I'd throw all that in the bin on my way home. It's not even remotely funny. Get him something nice ffs

I think it's nicer to get him stuff he'll actually enjoy and use rather than lots of jokey presents he might not want. That's just wasteful. After the initial "haha!" it'll just be put aside and forgotten about. Think about his interests and buy gifts based on those. Does he like good wine, a particular sport, travel, books etc? I'm sure he'd appreciate a more thoughtful gift. If he has a partner you could ask them for ideas.

We have got him a nice sensible gift too which has taken his interests into account. This is just an extra.
Some other great ideas - thanks
