I ordered some clothes from Topshop. To avoid the inevitable "you weren't home" scenario, even though there is someone here all the time, I asked for delivery to a local shop. It should have arrived yesterday.
I just checked the tracking number on the Hermes website. Apparently I asked them to to return to sender so it's on it's way back.
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

How, HOW do you actually get things delivered these days if the seller insists on continuing to use fucking Hermes?!

It's only a couple of tee-shirts, but I don't think I'm being bloody unreasonable for being so ducking pissed off about it!!

I've messaged Topshop, btw. I'm so cross Angry

I've never had a problem with Hermes, but Yodel have boiled my piss so badly I won't buy from any firm that I know uses them.

madnessitellyou · 04/07/2020 11:35

I’m confused: were you actually out? Does the shop accept deliveries in this manner?

VettiyaIruken · 04/07/2020 11:35

It's because they're so cheap and so many people want goods that are cheap and postage that is cheap or better still, 'free' (aka included in the item price).

I'd like it if all companies allowed you to select the postage method. I'd rather pay more for a good delivery service.

Ickabog · 04/07/2020 11:39

I know they have drop off points in some shops, but I didn't know you could collect parcels from shops. Confused

PumpkinP · 04/07/2020 11:40

I’ve never had any issues with them at all and I order online a lot

jeramiahbonbon · 04/07/2020 11:49

@madnessitellyou yes the shop is an official Hermes delivery point. Not a random shop!

I just called them. According to their (incredibly frustrating too) automated response, they haven't received my parcel from the sender yet. So still no bloody nearer to what's going on.

They are staffed by crazy people.

I have my own problem with Hermes. They will deliver to me and they will collect from me if the other party (amazon for example) asks them to.

If I arrange for them to collect a parcel from me they take the money and nothing happens. After a bit I get in touch and they say "it''s not been collected? I'll see to it right way"
A week later I get in touch again and get the same promise again.
After a bit they refund me without explanation.

I tried 3 times over about 18 months each time thinking it must have been a glitch and surely fixed by now.

Blueberrycreampie · 04/07/2020 11:55

I have never had a problem with Hermes in our rural location. The same man has been doing it for years and is lovely. However, the one time I requested delivery to a local shop (coop) to avoid a delivery charge, it never arrived. It's still at the warehouse according to my app 2 months later hmm.

Starbuggy · 04/07/2020 11:56

Hermes are shit because it’s not just a few crap drivers, it’s that the company doesn’t care that some of their drivers are shit. I had one delivery where the driver repeatedly lied about attempting delivery (I was home and nobody even drove up), when I complained Hermes couldn’t care less. When it was eventually delivered they had GPS tracking, so they could clearly tell that he’d lied about the previous attempts, but they didn’t give a shit.

I actively avoid companies that use Hermes. I’d rather pay more for delivery that actually turns up rather than take my chances that Hermes will actually bother to do their job.

Nottherealslimshady · 04/07/2020 11:58

I've never had an issue with them. Dont get me started on royal mail though.

If you have a list of companies that dont use Hermes, I would appreciate if you could share as I have the same issue with them.

Our Hermes driver seems to be down our street daily. However we've had weeks where Royal mail haven't delivered. Has anyone had any post is a common question on our local FB groups.
SuzieCarmichael · 04/07/2020 12:05

My local Hermes driver has a habit of leaving parcels in the bin. The black bin. On top of a pile of stinking bin bags. I have no idea how anyone could possibly think that I would want to receive a parcel that has spent the best part of a day like that.

I complained every time and I sent the goods back to the retailer every time with a note explaining why I was returning them, and saying I will only order from them in future if I know it will not be sent via Hermes.

After a few instances of this the Hermes complaints people got so sick of me that they did actually have a word with their delivery person and it stopped.

Justgivemesomepeace · 04/07/2020 12:07

Most days on my local Facebook, someone is asking about the local Hermes deliveries. Someone is always trying to locate the owner of a random parcel that has been delivered at the wrong house. It's like pass the parcel. Luckily people are getting quite good at it now, and know to check the page if they are missing an allegedly delivered parcel, but I'm sure for everyone located, there are people enjoying their surprise parcels and saying nothing. Our local driver is hopeless.

Puppylucky · 04/07/2020 12:12

It could be the shop. I stopped using a certain Hermes parcel collection point shop because they were disorganised and would just return stuff if they didn't have room behind the counter

mysuperpowerisme · 04/07/2020 12:26

I would message hermes on facebook.

tripleripples · 04/07/2020 12:26

Royal Mail post at the moment has to be prioritised. They are overwhelmed and having to focus on parcels, so letter delivery is being done less often parcels, which is why you’ll often get a few letters coming on one day rather than one on each day. Most of the nation swapped to online shopping and the post men and women themselves might have to self isolate etc so the service isn’t running as we are used to.
