Close family member may be infertile

Posting here for traffic.

Close family member who I see every week has been told he may be infertile. He's awaiting test results. He suffers from depression and anxiety and is a kind, loving, level headed man. He's only in his early 20s.

I don't know how to support him through this. The tests may come back okay, but he has a structural problem in both of his testicles and doc has said it's highly likely he's infertile.

This is a huge shock to him. He's always wanted kids and talked about how much he wants to be a dad a lot in the past.

I fear this will break him.

How do I support him through this? It will devastate him.

Infertility has a huge impact on mental health he will need support but also looking for hope of other ways of being a dad. Biology does not always guarantee being a good parent.

There's total male infertility where no sperm at all is produced. This is much rather than subfertility where there is some sperm just much to low to conceive naturally.

If the later, ICSI is available. Its not much more expensive than IVF and at the moment, he and partner would be entitled to it on the nhs if she meets the criteria too.

It's a blow but not yet at the stage of having to come to term that he'll never have biological children.

He doesn't actually have a partner at the moment. He's really scared. Just feel so bad for him.
