to be thinking about offloading the cat?

Ok I know I'm about to get stoned by the animal lovers but our cat is driving me barmy. I know she can't help it but she's started throwing up and pooing everywhere. It started when I was pregnant with DS2 and hasn't stopped (he is now 3 months). She's now also started peeing on the coir matting in the hallway.

I've insisted that she stays in the conservatory for the past few months but its getting colder at night now. DH thinks I'm being completely unreasonable making her live in the conservatory but with a baby and a 2 year old I can't be searching each room before we go in it for cat crap. Am I being unreasonable? I have to say that she is a lovely cat and I do feel bad about it but I have enough on my plate at the moment and don't need to be worrying about DS1 touching a hidden pile of cat sick!

She would probably have a better life with someone else, so find a good sanctuary that will not put her down if they can't find a home immediately. I have a similar issue with my cat, and although I know it is because he is getting old and senile, it is still hard not to get upset at having to clean up yet another accident. It doesn't help you love them! She may just be happier in an environment without children.

I thought cats roamed about freely at nght?
My lawn is always full of cat poo so neighbours definitely don't keep them locked up in conservatories round here

elle...I think, like it has been said already...that you should rehome the cat....it's obvioulsy not working...!

You are and you aren't. I don't think you should be keeping her in one room but I also don't think you should have to worry about the children touching cat shit or sick.

I think you should have taken the cat to a vet when she started being ill to rule out anything wrong with her and then rehomed her.

Now I think you should do the same.

I'm hate finding cat shit in my garden, we don't have animals other than fish so it annoys me. Am looking into deterrents so they won't come into the garden anymore.

Is she ill? YABU if you keep her locked up apart from anyone else. What does the vet say? My cat has phases of puking up quite a lot of hairballs, but tbh it's never really been a problem, even when DD was tiny. But then I have hard floors, so maybe it's easier for me to see....

Before I get reported to the RSPCA I should say she is not actually locked in the conservatory. The window is open so she can get in and out whenever she wants and in the evening once the boys are in bed she comes into the living room with us where we can keep an eye on her but is not allowed to roam the house. I then just put her back in the conservatory/outside when we go to bed.
We have taken her to the vets and they say there is nothing wrong with her.

Rehome her then, you're not happy with the situation and that's ok, sometimes animals just don't work out when you have children.

She's always vomited a bit after eating but its become much worse. I think it is probably stress with the second baby arriving but I'm no vet. She's getting on a bit too.
I feel even worse about it all after posting this thread!

Lucy - if we moved to Southwell we couldn't even afford a conservatory to shut her in!!

I'll take her to a different vet tomorrow and see what they say. Feeling like I've been a bad cat mummy now.

Tried the feliway plug ins but they didn't seem to have any effect.
