To ask my lodger to let me know when she will be away?

New lodger moved in. A few days later she didn’t come home. I know I am not her mother but after a few days I started to worry a bit in case something happened to her. So I texted her and she said no worries she would be back that day. She came back and then went away again!
Of course she can go where she likes (although I am not clear on current Covid guidelines) but I would just appreciate a heads up if she is going to be away so I can (a) lock up properly and (b) know not to worry. Aibu? And if not, how best to address it with her.

its not a flat share and not a flat share set up, if it where both would be paying rent and both be tenants with equal rights. this is a ll and lodger which is not the same and the landlord is not equal with the lodger in this scenario, as they own or rent the property solo

Withe respect its none of your concern, she is renting a room from you. I’ve rented plenty of rooms over the years and never had a landlord ask me where I was if we went away.
It’s nice of you but she needs to have access to your house 24/7 without having to ask you to unlock something.

It’s common decency to let you know and vice versus. Imagine if something had happened to them, and when the police or family asked why you didn’t notice, your response was “We just never bothered telling each other”

Personally I think that as part of the details you have about her, you should have another address or family contact. What if she went off without paying? What if she got very ill? Etc.

I would tell her you lock up fir the might at whatever time and then it's up to her to text you if she'll be later. Don't worry if she's in or out.
