Utter crap.

AIBU?

OP posts:
Smallsteps88 · 02/07/2020 18:41

AIBU?

I’ve no idea- what are you referring to?

WombatStewForTea · 02/07/2020 18:43

Course it's not changing. We're just going to be plugging gaps. All eyfs, ks1 and LS2 assessments are going ahead as if this year hasn't been affected

p2703b3 · 02/07/2020 18:45

Can you expand further OP?

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 02/07/2020 18:53

I'm sure as usual the teachers and schools will be doing their absolute best to help the children whilst Gav's world class is as good as Matt's world class track & trace system or Boris's world class bluster about everything!

Lua · 02/07/2020 18:56

From the same man, that promissed never to have a borderon the irish sea, and 350million a week for the NHS after brexit....
Hmm

SquishySquirmy · 02/07/2020 18:57

The words "world class" make my heart sink a little now.... They do not inspire confidence.

Cant they just promise us something decent, and then fulfill that promise?
Much better than constantly promising "world class" and delivering rubbish.

HedWrek · 02/07/2020 18:58

Yep. It will be world-beating. Just like the test & trace system which has implemented seamlessly across the country...

p2703b3 · 02/07/2020 18:58

Is your AIBU that the curriculum (without Covids involvement) isn't world class.

Or that schools won't be delivering the full curriculum in Sept?

june2007 · 02/07/2020 19:03

Yes I thought be careful what you promise. Good intentions but can they or more importantly can the schools deliver.

VikingVolva · 02/07/2020 19:03

they are still trying to convince us that secondary schools will be able to provide an adequate and safe education

But the issues about a the normal range of options taught by specialist teachers still hasn't really been solved (teachers do not stick with one class/year group)

So perhaps options will need to be curtailed, but as long as people believe it's world class until the shit hits the fan, that's OK. Because it won't go wrong for another two months and so that's nowhere near the top of the 'to do' list.

Katjolo · 02/07/2020 19:07

Utter nonsense that pointless tests such as sats and phonics test will go ahead. Surely the government should be focusing on narrowing the gap and well being. Not cramming and teaching to a ridiculous test!

starrynight19 · 02/07/2020 19:07

Yep as world class as the track and trace system we currently have.
6 months off school and straight back on to the testing train.
Impacts of lockdown / mental health etc sorry no time for that we need to pass sats / phonics screenings / GCSEs / a levels in case ofsted punish the schools for not plugging the gaps of a result of a global pandemic Sad

Lopsil · 02/07/2020 19:46

Well, it will be neither. But teachers will be doing what they do best. It's their job to teach new concepts to people who haven't even considered them yet, so kids won't lose out.

UltimateWednesday · 02/07/2020 20:07

Honestly, was our education system world class "before". What does that even mean?

Schools can't provide a full school day to all pupils and avoid these massive bubbles crossing.

parallax80 · 02/07/2020 21:15

“World class” = impending disaster in my mind now.

Altho i have grown rather fond of the Plorbs and Blints and other phonics test creatures. In fact thinking abt it Boris Johnson looks a little like a phonics creature himself.

It’s a synonym for completely crap and non functional
Wanderings · 02/07/2020 21:30

@starrynight19 I knew I’d heard “world class” somewhere before. Is Boris going to be the class clown and teach this world class curriculum himself?

How about a school year without the sats? He’s just given us a few months of life will all the good bits snatched away; how about some of the bad bits being snatched away now?
