Court order around shift work?

Does anyone know how this works? Can the other parent be ordered to give a certain amount of notice about their upcoming shifts?

Essentially I am not told until the day sometimes that the other parent can't/can have the children that day/night because they are working. Trying to make any sort of routine is impossible because they refuse to give me any sort of notice of their shifts until quite literally the day of/day before at a push.

If I ever ask if they've only just found out I get a simple 'no' in response.

The kids feel like they are being passed from pillar to post at a seconds notice and have said as such but any conversation about that gets shut down or flat out ignored.

I appreciate set days isn't possible for them but at least some notice so I, but most importantly, the children know where they are from one minute to the next is surely reasonable?

Yes the court can order that you need to be given x weeks notice and contact agreed when rota is released etc.

Without a court order he can't force you to let him have the DC. You could turn it around and say the DC will only be available on x y z and it's up to him to swap shifts in order to see them.

Was he controlling when you were together?

In your shoes I’d start by giving him 4 weeks’ notice of the days the children will be available. It’s not fair on them or you for him to be so unreliable.

If he goes to court to get regular contact set up they would require him to give you a set amount of notice of his shifts, or would set fixed days for contact and he would just have to arrange his shifts around those.
