To wonder when we find out next year's teachers

My DD has missed a huge chunk of reception. She won't be going back until year one. Hopefully September if coronavirus allows it.

I'm just curious as I'm new to all this ... When do you find out next year's teachers? Or does it vary? My DD is hopefully going in on the 21st July to see her teacher one last time. There 3 potiental teachers for her.

Just a curious question really. Posted here for traffic

You'd really be better off asking the school rather than AIBU I'm afraid.

Lancrelady80 · 01/07/2020 22:00

Varies hugely from school to school.

WombatStewForTea · 01/07/2020 22:00

All schools are different but in ours it goes out on their reports who their next teacher is.

Thingsthatgo · 01/07/2020 22:01

We’ve been told that we will find out this Friday, which is earlier than usual.

Singlebutmarried · 01/07/2020 22:01

Got ours this week.

DebbieFiderer · 01/07/2020 22:02

We got ours last week, and they are going to have a brief transition session next week, half the class at a time for an hour

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 01/07/2020 22:02

Got ours in an email this week. The teachers will also be doing the children a greeting video too.

W00t · 01/07/2020 22:05

Usually the last day of term...to avoid all the hassle from parents about why their precious child can't possibly be with Mr X, Child Y, etc Hmm

NellMangel · 01/07/2020 22:06

We got letters last week

Cally70 · 01/07/2020 22:07

We found out last week and the children have gone in for half a day this week in small groups to meet their new teacher.

Norabird · 01/07/2020 22:09

Every school is different but ours will be on Friday with their reports.

MsAwesomeDragon · 01/07/2020 22:11

We found out last week. Dd is thrilled with the teacher she's got. There is one year 6 teacher who is a bit of an acquired taste, and dd didn't want her (I'm sure she would have got to like her if she had been in her class!).

Some schools leave it til the last week of term to try and avoid any complaints too early. They don't normally make changes, but they get complaints most years in most schools.

BogRollBOGOF · 01/07/2020 22:15

I found out a week ago. It's a stable year. One mat cover done in-house by a member of that year team. All teachers sticking to their current age group. One form intake so there's not mich point in complaining Wink

CallmeAngelina · 01/07/2020 22:16

but they get complaints most years in most schools.
On what grounds? There are certainly massive issues if a cohort is jumbled up (and then some) but if a whole class is moving up to another teacher, what would the complaint be? (as "not liking that person" is insufficient).

JackieJormpJormp4 · 01/07/2020 22:16

We heard last week and our school has made the decision that their current teachers will stay with them for next year to save even more upheaval. I'm pleased, but would be less so if she didn't like her current teacher!

pinkcattydude · 01/07/2020 22:16

We find out on the 10th same day as we get the school reports.

Chaotic45 · 01/07/2020 22:19

Last day of term to avoid too much fallout from disgruntled parents. Unless they are getting an induction day with new teacher I'm not sure knowing well in advance makes any material difference to a child.

isittheholidaysyet · 01/07/2020 22:19

Usually we get them with the school reports. Which usually we get about 4-5 days before the end of term.

This year they've been sent as a letter on the school's communication app a couple of days ago.

Autumnwalksx · 01/07/2020 22:26

Thanks everyone. Will have to wait and see then.

We found out on Sunday

Rubyandsaphire · 01/07/2020 22:49

Mine have been announced in the last couple of weeks we usually find out slightly earlier than we did this year and they came with a caveat that schools were able to open to classes of 30.
My nephews and nieces haven't been told yet as the school were waiting for the government guidelines this week.

Autumnwalksx · 01/07/2020 22:55

Hopefully we hear soon. Be nice to start bigging school up again for her. I can't do that until we have names and stuff though.

I can't believe the year is basically over. Seems only yesterday we went to the taster day to look around!

We found out yesterday

Millie2013 · 02/07/2020 02:35

We found out yesterday, a few weeks before the end of term seems to be the pattern here

I would be a bit wary of that. Schools have had guidance changed on them constantly recently.

We've been told who their teachers will be if guidance stays as it is at the moment. DS absolutely loves the teacher in question. DH and I have decided not to tell him just in case of changes as he'd be gutted.

Thankfully his best friend's parents have made the same decision.
