Or would you hang on....
Name changed for privacy.
Have long term DP but we prefer to live apart as we wfh and like the space. It suits us and whilst it would be cheaper to live together we would rather keep things as they are as were very happy.
I had dreamed of living In a certain place. Saved for a long time and took the plunge last year.
I rent.
I don’t run a vehicle.
I live in a very beautiful area in national park, heavily congested with tourism usually.
Problem: my place is inappropriate, for me and for my work. I’m in a stupendously noisy part, Heavy traffic surrounds me, and there is no soundproofing between me and my 1 neighbour. I’m not relaxed or happy there but the place is so perfect I was going to hold on, perhaps wait a year or so to move again, locally.
But I’ve changed over lockdown. Spent it with DP and whenever I’ve returned since mid June I’m really not happy with it. I also want to take on some employed work to supplement my income and the area is struggling economically and heavily dependent on tourism.
My dilemma - do I hang on and see what happens? Worried about job market there, no idea when. I would find another place at the right price locally. I rely on public transport here and worry about far reaching effects of covid, etc. The next year’s looks stressful and a bit grim.
Or, do I move back to original town when lease is up (soon) which is much less lovely and quite crappy but I could try to find a decent bit of the area? There’d be more properties and jobs (if any!) and I’d be right back where I began.........
I’m worried about current climate of course. Is moving soon a good idea? If I hate where I am currently would it be mad to hang on to it? Is that throwing money away?
It would be walking out on my ‘dream’ but I’m not so sure I can handle to masses of tourists each year, and I guess I’m just not sure anymore either way.....
Any advice welcome!
