To ask those on citalopram have you missed a dose?

Busiest forum so thought I may get some advice. I’ve been on 30mg for 2 years, today I can’t remember if I took it when I woke up, I’ve wracked my brains but have no recollection, I do feel quite sick but that may be me worrying. Not sure if I should wait it out or maybe take 10mg so I have something in me if I did miss it but won’t go over the 40mg daily max if I did?

My anxious brain isn’t working....

My GP always said not to worry if I missed one day and to just take it as normal the following day.

I used to get really bad migraines if I missed a dose but not sure if that was just from worrying too much about missing it

I've forgotten to take it on many occasions. Better not to risk taking more than you're used to. Just carry on tomorrow.

definitely just leave it. You should be OK. The half life is long, I swapped from SSRI to a different kind of anti depressant and had to have it out of my system first - took 2 weeks.

I’ve been on various anti depressants over the years, skipping one dose is much safer than possibly taking a double dose.

One missed dose of citalopram shouldn’t give you a harmful withdrawal. The only AD where I felt an effect of missing one dose was Venlafaxine, all others I’ve been fine if I miss one. And it wasn’t dangerous, I just felt really crap with headaches, dizziness and mood swings.

Try and take it at the same time every day, and consciously pay attention to yourself taking it, if that makes sense. Like consciously say “I’m taking my tablet” and take a mental picture of doing it. Doing it while distracted means you’re doing it on autopilot so it’s easier to forget. A technique my dad taught me years ago, we’re both prone to anxiety and checking things.

Deffinetly leave it, and just take it tomorrow as usual. It says on instructions as well. Best to skip a dose than to take too much.

Thanks all I’ll hold off, and be more careful in future!

I’ve been on it for donkey’s years. One missed dose will be OK. As I have memory issues, I have set up an alarm on my iPad (you could use your phone), to remind me to take it as I have a ton of other meds too. I don’t miss it now, since ai did that.

Was on it for a few years a while back - quite often missed a day without incident. I was also lucky not to have any of the advertised side effects even when stopping though so I may just be lucky.
