Would you eat anything from the bakery in lidl with the current virus situation?

Husband bought some doughnuts home, when I politely declined and said I didn't fancy eating something that someone could have possibly coughed/sneezed near to he said I was daft.

I just dont think it's worth the risk personally. I'm surprised they are selling unpackaged food.

In mine everything is now packaged in brown bags, nothing left in the open

I'm not keen on those counters anyway, you don't know who's handled things!

That's how it was in our local store a few weeks ago but it's apparently back to normal now.

No different to many other foods, surely? (Fruit/veg)

The difference is that fruit and veg can be washed.

It's all bagged up, I've eaten pain au chocolat from there about seven times in the past few months.

It's all packaged separately now so there's no contamination, unless the baker sneezes over it, which is no different from before really!

It wasn't packaged separately. Husband said he packed them into the bags himself and all bakery items were out like they used to be.

Was fine while they were being bagged but ours has bakery items back on open display, haven’t bought anything since and judging by the full shelves other people aren’t either, hope they go back to being bagged up as I live Lidl bakery.

My local store doesn't package the baked good anymore. I have bought stuff from there recently, but will avoid as far as I can.

Yes I suppose with fruit/veg, but I’d have thought there’s still a risk that someone, somewhere has coughed or sneezed over food you’ve bought.

I see where you are coming from.
We had ours paired up till last week when it went back to loose.
You have to use gloves to get them though and everyone I saw complied.
For this reason I had 3x chocolate croissants and 2x maple pecan! On my own! ☺️

I haven’t bought anything from Lidl’s or any other instore bakery after I watched another customer drop a whole tray of doughnuts on the floor and then try to pick them all back up and put them back where she found them as if nothing had happened.

The difference is that fruit and veg can be washed.

And baked goods can be put in an oven or microwave

Yeah, I've put baked goods that can be into a low oven for a few minutes.

Our Lidl bakery is back to normal now too, at the weekend I ate a cheese twist, cookie, diamond cheese roll, a brownie and a pecan thing! I feel fine, maybe a bit of a Chubster but not ill!

No, I'll never get any bread or bakery bits that are not wrapped up since I saw somebody sneeze by unwrapped bread in morrisons (pre covid) 🤮

Back to normal in our local Lidl today, no gloves or bagged goods and the tings are back. I bought a pain au chocolate for me and a pecan for husband, and a little pain au raisin for my 14 month old. I was quite pleased it was back to normal, and no more worried about sneezes on it than before.

Ours is unpackaged. I get something every time I go in there. I do always reach for things at the top and back (I'm tall!) but that probably doesn't make much difference.

I wouldn’t eat from there after seeing a massive fly on one of them tbh, also the time a young child dropped one on the floor and a man told her pick it up and put it back because no one noticed

I realise the risk is probably low but it's still a risk.

I don't think putting glazed doughnuts in the oven would be a good idea.

Our Lidl has everything pre bagged at the moment. I have had things from there.

Would never have done even before the virus. Ditto any cafe if staff handle money then put cakes, etc in plates with their bare hands. Surely tongs and covered counters should be standard health & safety practice?
