Bleeding during pregnancy, who had it?

Sorry I'm committing the age old sin of posting for traffic!

8 weeks pregnant and had an internal ultrasound yesterday due to some spotting. The scan showed a baby of the right size with a heartbeat and so I was sent away and just told it can be normal and to contact them again if it gets any worse.

The spotting has been on and off now for about 2 weeks. It keeps turning brown and dying off and then starting pink again for a day or so.

It went brown and stopped yesterday just before my scan but I think the internal scan irritated it again as it's been spotting very very lightly again since!

It's driving me mental. I'm glad everything is okay of course but it's not seemed to ease my anxiety very much. I just want it to stop and stay gone!

Did anyone else have this?

Bit different because I was much later on, but I had bleeding at 30 weeks, then again quite a few times up until I went into labour spontaneously at 39 weeks.

All was fine. I went in to be checked out 3 times, they couldn't get a good look at my cervix because it was in a bit of an awkward position but they said likely to be because of a cervical erosion and possibly linked to a procedure I had for treating pre-cancerous cells on my cervix a few years previously (a LLETZ procedure).

I had it in two of my pregnancies. I also had pregnancies without it. The ones without spotting ended as miscarriages. The ones with spotting went to full term. My dcs are now 30 and 28.

@IfItWerentForYouMeddlingKids - Sorry I know it’s been a while since you posted on here but I was wondering how you were getting on? I’ve recently tested positive (2-3weeks) however like you I have had my period during this time which has been totally normal. The reason I took the test was because I have been tracking my Ovulation and I had 5 positive tests in a row which made me think that something strange was going on. I’ve also been bleeding for the past 6 days so I really don’t know what’s going on. It’s too early to go to the doctor but I was wondering how you got on with your pregnancy?

Heyyy, hoping for some reassurance but I have had ivf and now 7 weeks today from what flo tells me. I had a red bleed for a couple of hours it was more than spotting but not as bad as my period. I had a bit of back ache. Now its completely stopped has anyone else had this?? Hopefully it's a good sign its stopped

Milkshake7489 · 29/12/2020 18:44

I had this a couple of times during the first trimester. It's such a worry, I'm sorry Flowers

In my case they couldn't find a reason and refused to scan me the second time (apparently they only scanned the first time to check for ectopic pregnancy).

It all worked out fine though and I'm 33 weeks now so it definitely can be normal.

Me, in both pregnancies, both in the first trimester and once in the third. Think the first trimester was something to do with hormones (perhaps not quite strong enough to stop a mini period, though it was quite a gush so I feared the worst). Third trimester was apparently cervical abrasions. Both were fine but it did make for an anxious 9 months (twice..).

I bled all the way through my first pregnancy. I didnt know until 8 weeks because I thought I had a period! The day I found out I had a huge red blood bleed! I went to a&e and everything was fine.. a little blob was in there I wasnt aware of!!
She was fine throughout my pregnancy but I kept bleeding. It was red at times too.. I had to have regular scans but yeah, all was normal.

Ghhh · 29/12/2020 19:10

Aww thanks guys it's made me feel better. Before I had the bleed I felt like my boobs wasnt hurting as much but now they do feel a little sensitive still so I'm hoping I have no more bleeding and stronger symptoms Smile I did have a miscarriage 2 years ago at 6 weeks but I didnt stop bleeding with that one so hopefully now its stopped I'll be okay xx

Ghhh · 30/12/2020 11:45

Hi everyone so today I've had no bleeding, I feel sort of pregnant as my boobs are a bit tender and I felt sick this morning but I dont know if that's in my head. I rang you my clinic and they said just monitor it but if I wanted reassurance to ring EPU. Not sure if to just monitor it and see how it goes..

Ilikeviognier · 30/12/2020 12:26

Yes- I’ve been pregnant 3 times and bled every time. Only 1 of those times ended in MC.

One of the bleeds was heavy- bright red, like a period and I was in the middle of the Indian Ocean at the time (Maldives) and there was bugger all I could do about it. I was convinced all was lost but a scab on return the the uk showed that in fact it was all ok.

Ilikeviognier · 30/12/2020 12:26

Scan! Not scab!

Ghhh · 30/12/2020 12:36

I've just rang them up they said I can have blood test tomorrow then if the hcg is high enough I can have a scan next week xc

Facelikearustytractor · 30/12/2020 12:53

I had terrible bleeding during my first child's pregnancy and I had two previous miscarriages, so was scared. I got some with second too, but not as bad, but still scary. It is awful, but I just want you to know that there can be good outcomes sometimes. I had lots of bright red blood with my first too. Speaking to other people, it's fairly common.

Rutennotou · 30/12/2020 12:53

I had a bright red gush of blood with my daughter at around 8 weeks, never found a cause for it. She just turned 14. Currently 24 weeks pregnant and had spotting from 6 weeks to 16 weeks, it was just implantation. Pregnancy going well.

I've also had two missed miscarriages and had no bleeding with them at all, found at the 12 week scan. I know it's so hard but try to relax. Spotting is common enough. Wishing you the best.

sbhydrogen · 30/12/2020 13:02

I had a subchorionic heamatoma at 8 weeks (now 15 week). I had a searing pain followed by a lot of fresh blood pouring out. The bleeding lasted for about two days. It was very stressful, also because nobody at TWO hospitals could scan me to check everything was okay or not. I had to wait just under 24 hours, and then go to the Gynaecology ER that was back at the 2nd hospital I visited.

However, it's fine now. Turns out lots of women have these heammorages, but I had no idea.

Ghhh · 30/12/2020 13:26

Thank you everyone I am feeling better now the bleeding has stopped I suppse I'll have to see what the blood test come back with tomorrow x

Ghhh · 31/12/2020 19:06

So I went for bloods today she said my levels was 7,700. Had a bit of brown blood this morning but its stopped. I've got a scan on saturday so hopefully it will be okay but really nervous! X

Ghhh · 02/01/2021 10:55

So I went for the scan today they said it was too early to see anything. She could only see the pregnancy sack and yolk. The nurse said its measuring 4-5 weeks but on my calculator it says 6 weeks. But the nurse said as my embryo was implanted 9th December that 4-5 weeks would be right. So I'm not sure if anyone else has had this? I've got to go for Another scan in 10 days so I suppose I'll know then xx

Ghhh · 13/01/2021 09:51

Just incase anyone else is having the same went for my scan and now 7 weeks 3 days with a strong heartbeat so it's not always case to worry with some bleeding xx

DenisetheMenace · 13/01/2021 09:53

Exactly this with both of ours, right the way through. Taken in at 23 weeks with major bleed with second. He was fine, cause never explained.
They’re both healthy adult/nearly adult now 😊
