To be really pissed off - work related

NC for stealth.

I work for a small independent travel company that prides itself on personal service, and as you can imagine the last few months have been pretty awful. After over a decade with the company I really care about my clients and have been in tears a number of times when I've not been able to help them.

When we had to cancel everything we started off by offering clients either a refund or a credit note, and given we have a lot of loyal and regular (and often wealthy) clients many were happy to take the latter for next year. A couple of weeks in the powers that be decided these credit notes were too much hassle to keep track of and that we had to give everyone a straight refund no matter what.

Now we're able to start operating again and I have a relatively small amount of clients with very genuine reasons for no longer being able to travel this summer, but because the holidays are going ahead they're loosing their deposits if they don't go.

I'm really really pissed off with the company that a couple of months ago I was refunding thousands of pounds to people who didn't want it, but now I'm being forced to tell individual families that we're going to keep their £300 because the holiday is happening even though they can't possibly go (an genuine example being that they live offshore in a place that hasn't opened borders yet, so can't travel to the international departure point).

Throughout all this, of course, we've been on part-time hours and just enough pay to barely break even on bills, despite apparently having cash to haemorrhage on unwanted refunds.

Sorry for the rant, I think I'm a bit hormonal and overly sensitive but it's really bothered me today and DP is out so nobody here to take the brunt! Wink
