To ask what you’d spend 5 wishes on?

Beatrixpotterspencil · 28/06/2020 20:23

Just that, simply.
I ask myself this every few years or so, it’s interesting how much we change, how some desires remain a top priority, and some slip down the list.

Perhaps skip ‘winning lottery/being billionaire’ as it’s too obvious?
Also, these are personal, so saving the world doesn’t count, and it cuts out the accusations that we’re all selfish bustards 😁

Mine:
1/to achieve absolute inner peace and contentment.
2/to remain physically healthy.
3/to live somewhere perfectly suited to me.
4/to have a large art studio in a leafy spot.
5/to always be able to create.

What a great post... thanks for offering us all an opportunity to dream a while! Here are mine:

  1. To have family harmony in two significant relationships where there is tension;
  2. To be able to move freely again and without pain (arthritis);
  3. Vaccine for Covid;
  4. To have some decent chunks of time uninterrupted to bake and decorate cakes;
  5. To be able to give away my last wish to someone who needs it.
2beautifulbabs · 29/06/2020 14:35
  1. For me and DH to remain both physically and mentally healthy for rest of our lives.
  2. for my DCs to always be happy and healthy until they grow very very old.
  3. to have £10k or more a month income
  4. A lovely house in the countryside with land
  5. To be able to spoil my loved ones without worrying about money
gk6277 · 29/06/2020 14:38
  1. To live in a nice house, nothing overly expensive, furnished to my taste.
  2. To have enough income / money in bank to be comfortable, so as to not worry about bills, and able to buy what I want, within reason, and to afford to treat my adult DD's to make their life easier
  3. Good Health
  4. Personal trainer to maintain fitness/health
  5. Sort my teeth out
Oliversmumsarmy · 29/06/2020 14:42

1.Eternal youth
2.The ability to time travel
3.The ability to bestow eternal youth and time travel on family and friends
4.World peace

  1. The Sun to never die out.
Nottherealslimshady · 29/06/2020 14:43

For my house to always be clean and tidy.
A large detached house with lots of land and a bit of woodland with no neighbours and no walkers.
My dog to live as long as me and be healthy.
To conceive a baby easily.
To work with african wild animals to conserve and protect them.

Quarantimespringclean · 29/06/2020 15:10

1)To be slim
2)For my two adult children to be happy
3)To have grandchildren
4)That my remaining (and very old) parent and PIL eventually die peacefully at home with no pain or fear.
5) To have a house trained herd of miniature elephants that would live with me always and love me.

@NatalieLollipop

I saw your last wish so I’m hoping you don’t mind if I take it. I need just one more wish:

That everyone who posts here have all of their wishes granted!

DameHannahRelf · 30/06/2020 05:25
  1. For my loved ones to have long, healthy, happy lives.
  2. To be an amazing driver, have my full licence already, and my dream car.
  3. To have my dream home in my dream location, and enough in the bank to not have to work, or worry about money.
  4. To be able to pause (and re-start) time, whenever I wanted.
  5. To have an amazing singing voice, like Adele.
DameHannahRelf · 30/06/2020 05:32

I'm going to add "and time travel" to my wish #4! Can't believe I didn't think of that.

Carouselfish · 30/06/2020 05:32

So barring anyone who hurts an animal to feel the same thing, purely selfish ones...

  1. All family to be happy and healthy
  2. House in Devon and Montana
  3. To be married to either my first love or Jeff Goldblum circa 1992
  4. To have my 22 year old figure.
  5. Bottomless wallet!
DameHannahRelf · 30/06/2020 05:43

Actually I'm going to change my #5 from have an amazing singing voice, to be able to talk to animals.

And if only purely selfish wishes are allowed, I'd change my wish for my loved ones, to being able to enter fictional worlds (and leave again at will), as the character of my choice. Oh, and if I was in any danger at all, I'd re appear irl in an instant.

isabellerossignol · 30/06/2020 05:50
  1. for my child's mental health problems to be resolved
  2. to be confident
  3. to be slim
  4. good health for me, my family and friends
  5. to have more time. More time for everything - time to increase my earnings, time to relax, time to exercise, time to travel, time to see friends. Just time in general
2018SoFarSoGreat · 30/06/2020 06:22

This is a lovely thread. I would spend all of my wishes to get Covid give, but that's not in the spirit of things so :

  1. For both of my adult children to live happy, healthy and meaningful lives.
  2. For my beautiful grandsons to grow up safely, to be happy and to find their joy in whatever they become.
  3. To remain healthy, to watch 1 and 2 happen.
  4. To continue to love and be loved by my amazing DH until I die, or forget. 😳
  5. To have one more day to spend with my best friend, on earth or elsewhere. I won't ever get over her death.
JoyFreeCake · 30/06/2020 06:52

DameHanna — the problem with the ability to pause and restart time is that you're stealing that extra time from the future— to everyone around you, you appear to age too fast and die too young; you die when your great grandchild is two rather than twelve.

MrsBobDylan · 30/06/2020 07:11

I know this is a bit wrong but I would spend my first on taking ds2 disability away so he could lead a normal life.

Second wish on taking away DS1 shitty autoimmune condition that erodes his health little by little.

Third on getting that fourth baby that wasn't to be

Fourth on staying slim and able to copious amounts of apple crumble

Fifth a chance for dh and I to regularly go for weekends away for we could have lots of sex (and eat apple crumble).

MrsBobDylan · 30/06/2020 07:14

Oh, just to be clear, we wouldn't have sex and eat apple crumble at the same time. Crumbs in bed 😱

Needanewnamenow · 30/06/2020 07:28

I'd trade them all in for a successful pregnancy and a healthy baby to be honest

whiteroseredrose · 30/06/2020 07:32

For us, our children, future grandchildren and great grandchildren....

  1. To have great relationships (partner/ spouse /with their children and friends)
  2. To always be lucky
  3. To always have excellent health.

Those are my 3 wishes. If I have 5 wishes then the next would be

  1. To always be financially secure
  1. For me to have the ability to give some other people vivid nightmares!

(Probably outed myself there!).

Tlollj · 30/06/2020 07:48

For all my children and grandchildren to be healthy, wealthy and happy.

To have a library with one of those ladders that swish round the room.

To eat what I want and not get fat.

Have my dad back in full health.

Only rains at night, so I can put washing out every day.

FallenMadonnawiththeBadBoobies · 30/06/2020 07:49

Mine are all completely impossible

  1. To be able to fly. Not the flapping my arms about type of flying, but movement just with the power of thought. I used to dream I was flying all the time when I was a child, and I always woke up feeling wonderful - invincible. If that’s to much to ask, being able to have dreams like that again would be enough.
  1. To be able to stand in one spot and go back in time and see long passed events unfolding around me and listen in on private conversations between the main players. Attending the courts of Elizabeth I and Henry VII would be my first ports of call, but I would like to see some of the great artists at work e.g. Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chappel. If that’s too much to ask, being able to visit places such as that just with DH and a guide and absolutely no-one else around would do.
  1. Physically being as I was aged 32. So without the extra stones and without the awful health issues I’ve had over the past few years. I’ll settle for being as I was aged 50 if that’s too much to ask.
  1. That I had been 5 years younger than I actually was when I had DC (damn you infertility issues). Being an older mum hasn’t affected my relationship with DC in any way, but I’d like to be around to see grandchildren (see health issues above). I’d settle for DC having kids considerably younger than I did Grin.
  1. Last one - I’d like to be able to talk to animals, just like Dr Dolittle. However, I would settle for being able to communicate to my very elderly and deaf dog that she needs to stop pacing about endlessly, following me whenever I move and panic whenever I’m not within touching distance, as she is driving us all completely mad.
Soulstirring · 30/06/2020 07:57

@Sparklybanana your number 1 ❤️ I miss my furry friends and I feel I didn’t appreciate my little ones enough when they were tiny. Oh to have that all again!

  1. Kids and cats revisited
  2. Financially secure enough to never worry and be able to donate to charity regularly
  3. Our health
  4. Family and friends (more true girlfriends)
  5. Be fit and healthy and pre preg weight with no risk of weight gain ever
