To ask what you’d spend 5 wishes on?

Beatrixpotterspencil · 28/06/2020 20:23

Just that, simply.
I ask myself this every few years or so, it’s interesting how much we change, how some desires remain a top priority, and some slip down the list.

Perhaps skip ‘winning lottery/being billionaire’ as it’s too obvious?
Also, these are personal, so saving the world doesn’t count, and it cuts out the accusations that we’re all selfish bustards 😁

Mine:
1/to achieve absolute inner peace and contentment.
2/to remain physically healthy.
3/to live somewhere perfectly suited to me.
4/to have a large art studio in a leafy spot.
5/to always be able to create.

OP posts:

Infinite genies

MrsAvocet · 28/06/2020 23:33

I would like..

  1. The life changing injuries I received in an incident a few years ago to fully heal. I was going to say for it not to have happened, but actually I think the experiences have made me a better person in some ways - I certainly take far less for granted - so I will stick with it having happened but for me to actually get better.
  2. Enough money to live comfortably without DH or I having to work. I much prefer my voluntary work to my paid work so I would concentrate on that.
  3. For my cousin's little girl to be cured of her cancer.
  4. For my DD's newly started business to thrive. Well it was....then coronavirus.
  5. For my DSs to achieve their ambitions. Not very interesting or amusing but those are the things I would genuinely like. I'd like to be taller too but that's not as important as the ones I've chosen. But if I could be, I'd like to be 5ft 6, size 10 and with size 4 feet. And to be able to turn the clock back so that coronavirus never happened but we still had learned all the lessons, but I am guessing that comes under "world peace" so would be disallowed?
Mammyloveswine · 28/06/2020 23:35
  1. To be back to my pre pregnancy weight/dress size.
  1. To be guaranteed a daughter if I had a third baby (probably controversial but if I'm being totally honest).
  1. To not have to worry about money every month... not to be rich but to be comfortable enough to not have to watch the pennies the last week before payday!
  1. A truly deep love with a DH/DP
  1. To go back 10 years and make a different decision...
Nacreous · 29/06/2020 00:17
  1. Happiness and health for the various unwell family members and those still currently well (and for me while we're at it!). Or at least a peaceful end where recovery isn't possible.
  1. To be able to eat whatever I want and remain slim and healthy.
  1. To meet someone who loves and respects me and who is my equal and who I can love and respect.
  1. To have enough money not to need to worry about if something were to happen, and to not worry about pensions, and preferably to have a drive way. I think that would be somewhere between £250-£500k to do that.
  1. Either a TARDIS or some similar power without a TARDIS. I could do boring things like have a dream job in London without living there and without the commute. And amazing things like see the world and the past and maybe somehow do some extra good (but only in the here and now, obviously no accidental messing with timelines allowed).
rosiejaune · 29/06/2020 00:24

But what I want personally is the big world-changing stuff. And only partly because I know that in that world, I would have a better life anyway.

So I only need one wish, i.e. that the world was as I think it should be.

Being more specific is counter-productive because in this society, if my life gets better, someone else's probably gets worse.

SpaghettiBalonzaise · 29/06/2020 02:16

To be financially secure
To find love with someone I'm truly in love with who's in love with me and we're great for each other
Health lasting a long, long time for all my family so I would never have to worry and always hav them there
Utter contentment in my career
The social life of very special and important friends

ddl1 · 29/06/2020 02:54

(1) An end to the Covid pandemic

(2) A vaccine to prevent a new wave or repeat of the Covid pandemic

(3) Good economic recovery for the country and the world from the Covid pandemic

(4) That I and my friends and family should have good health, and
specifically not become seriously ill with Covid

(5) To wave a magic wand and cure me of the visual and motor processing difficulties that I've always had.

(You can see what my preoccupations are at the moment - all my wishes relate to health in some way, and 4 of the 5 to Covid.)

If I were allowed a 6th and 7th wish, they would be for a decent government here, and for Trump to lose in November in America!

JoyFreeCake · 29/06/2020 03:14
  1. Health (no diabetes, no coeliac disease, no migraines, no joint issues, no asthma, no allergies, no autism, no bipolar disorder, lose the obsessiveness).
  2. Be married to a gorgeous, intelligent woman with a great personality.
  3. Fulfilling and well-remunerated job.
  4. A lovely house in a great area. With a cleaner.
  5. Permanently slim and fit with zero effort.
oceanbreezy · 29/06/2020 03:53

The wishes would be endless and I’d be here all day but the main one would be that that life is guaranteed. That everyone is lucky enough to live till old age and not die young. My cousin was 33 and I would do anything to bring them back.!

Graphista · 29/06/2020 12:42

@Beatrixpotterspencil oh really? Are we "old friends" on here? One I maybe haven't noticed around recently?

If we're going down the romantic fantasy route - George Michael to be alive and straight, Natalie dormer to be at least bisexual and they both adore me! Grin

Although generally speaking I'm happy being single.

@geekone I won't sully my brain with the new charmed! The trailer was bad enough let alone the shite publicity claiming it was a "feminist charmed" the first charmed did that and did it very well. Angry

"1. to see my babies how they would of been if they had lived"

I've had pregnancy losses, totally understand that wish. Mine would be adults now but still think about them all the time Sad

@jmh740 I'm so sorry your son is going through that and I hope it stops soon for him Sad

kittensarecute · 29/06/2020 12:58

I only have one wish and that is for covid to be gone so that I can have back the thing that I love most. Because I can't cope without it for too much longer.

Tunnocks34 · 29/06/2020 13:05

To have flawless shin
To have beautiful soft silky shiney hair

Selfish enough? 😁

Sn0tnose · 29/06/2020 14:10

Mine are fantasy wishes.

  1. To be disgustingly, filthy rich. So we can take care of our friends & family and help them be financially free, do loads for tiny little charities that don’t get much help, buy some land near the coast, build a lovely home, have lots of rescue animals (and pay people to keep them mucked out!), a walled vegetable garden, a swimming pool and a duck pond and never have to even think about money again.
  2. For us & all of our loved ones to be physically and mentally fit & healthy so that none of us go until we’ve reached a ripe old age, peacefully in our sleep, so we don’t lose anyone else to anything but age, when they’re ready to go and not scared.
  3. For all of our friends and family to have lovely, happy lives. Lovely relationships, no big falling outs and everyone happy.
  4. Lots more nieces, nephews and God children to spoil and make a fuss of.

💐 to everyone who has lost loved ones.
