To worry about this skin on DH neck?

He is completely unconcerned about it and I am probably being silly but I want to insist he sees the GP because this patch of discoloured skin was about quarter of a centimetre in size for as long as I've known him.

Over the last 2 months it seems to be getting bigger and it's now closer to 3cm. It looks very strange to me but he rolls his eyes whenever I mention it, but it's bothering me. Apparently isn't painful and doesn't itch.

GP.

TeaAndBrie · 28/06/2020 00:29

Definitely get it checked out. If he goes and is told it's nothing to worry about then you may have to endure a few 'I told you so's!' But it's better than ignoring it

Def gp

GlamGiraffe · 28/06/2020 00:33

Get it checked.

Is it flat or different to the skin either side (higher or depressed)?

SamsMumsCateracts · 28/06/2020 00:36

Definitely get that checked out. I don't want to worry you, but I know someone who had a similar patch that got bigger, she had to have it removed.

Has he shaved hair off that area recently, @ByeGermsByeWorries? It looks like there is stubble there and the skin colour is the same as his scalp. It could just be that it was under his hairline.

It could be the photo but it does look a bit like there might be some irregular patches of hypopigmentation (lighter patches of skin) on his neck in the left bottom third of the picture. It could be vitiligo, a harmless loss of pigmentation.

ByeGermsByeWorries · 28/06/2020 08:37

It's not flat it's ever so slightly higher than the rest of the skin and has little wrinkles in it. It's not got stubble in it in that area no it's coloured dark like that. I'm very worried about it because I think it looks ominous, but he won't go and keeps saying "it's probably just eczema"

That photo is two weeks ago and this is it this morning and to me it looks larger and a different shape

If it helps the doc probably won’t see him without a photo/video call first. I am almost certain they will want to see him but he likely won’t have to physically go until a doc says he should.

GlamGiraffe · 28/06/2020 11:24

It could be a type of birth mark or mole but especially if its textured but its definitely one for the gp as its raised.

MitziK · 28/06/2020 11:34

Does he or anybody in his family have Psoriasis?

stormsurfer · 28/06/2020 11:37

Does it glow in UV light? If so, it could be vitiligo. Which is an auto immune disorder where your body destroys its melanin.

TheresABearInThere · 28/06/2020 11:47

Vitiligo

Northernsoullover · 28/06/2020 11:49

my thoughts are vitiligo but I am not a medic. Please see the GP

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 28/06/2020 11:53

If it feels scaly if might be psoriasis but I'm not a doctor!
