To think that there is no deodorant that can cope with my issues.

I use mitchum stick first followed by the Mitchum spray.
This just about copes with me, but not brilliantly. Mitchum is probably the best that I’ve ever come across.
Every single other deodorant and antiperspirant I have ever tried is utterly useless and will fail within the first hour.
Even those that are supposed to work for a week don’t work for more than a few hours.

I’m rapidly approaching peri menopause and I just know that it is going to become 100times worse than it is now.

What the hell can I do?

Do you use soap to wash - if not, switch. It made a massive difference to me.

WisestIsShe · 27/06/2020 20:46

I find using bar soap instead of shower gel keeps me smelling fresh for longer, something to do with shower gel leaving a film in the skin?

MadauntofA · 27/06/2020 20:46

As in soap instead of shower gel - I wasn't being sarcastic!!!

WisestIsShe · 27/06/2020 20:46

Cross post with @MadauntofA

Hi.. Try vichy, game changer for me. I used to do the same as you, mitchum stick and spray and vichy is wonderful.

HomerDancing · 27/06/2020 20:48

The only deodorants that works for me are sure mens roll on followed by the spray.

maryd84 · 27/06/2020 20:48

Driclor is really good.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/06/2020 20:49

Is it smell or sweat you are trying to stop?

If smell I find Nuud to be the best I've ever tried - I use it once a week in winter, twice a week in summer and don't smell - and of course if you need you can use it more often!

CMOTDibbler · 27/06/2020 20:50

Bar soap (not Dove) and then Mitchum gel. The other Mitchums aren't nearly as effective

steff13 · 27/06/2020 20:50

There are prescription strength deodorants, have you spoken to your doctor?

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/06/2020 20:50

I also want to know sweat or smell?

For sweat, making sure my pits are completely dry after a bath before applying, like bone dry, helps. Soap to wash and natural fibres to wear.

mutinyonthebunty · 27/06/2020 20:50

If it's excess sweating then Botox is an approved treatment with great results.

crosser62 · 27/06/2020 20:53

Both sweat and smell.

Try mens antibacterial from sure. Really helps

Takingabreakagain · 27/06/2020 20:58

I would also recommend driclor. It's not a traditional deodorant it's an over the counter treatment to reduce sweat.

notanotherpothole · 27/06/2020 20:59

Washing with apple cider vinegar soap or just rinsing with ACV can get rid of the bacteria causing smells. I use this once a week and use wild deodorant and smell and excessive sweat stop. One warning though, as you are currently using a lot of chemical deodorant you may have a few weeks of serious smell when you switch to natural deodorant. But it's worth it. I promise.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 27/06/2020 21:02

Soap instead of shower gel has helped me, and Faith In Nature stick deodorant has been a game changer.

The other thing to consider is botox in your armpits. It's not suitable for everyone but it is worth every penny for me. I go every 7 months or so privately and it has changed my life in terms of what I can wear and how often I have to shower. Even doing sports was embarrassing because I'd sweat so much more than any other woman in the room.

Idontbelieveit12 · 27/06/2020 21:03

I sweat profusely even with deodorant, it doesn’t smell just big wet patches. I’ve had Botox twice, the first time I noticed a big difference, second time hardly any difference so I didn’t bother again because having it done was very painful.

Redleathertrousers · 27/06/2020 21:03

Driclor is the holy grail. Get it from Boots.

Gastonimo · 27/06/2020 21:05

As a teenager I used Driclor. It burns when you put it on but lasted weeks. Think it blocked your sweat glands but it worked wonders.

bumblenbean · 27/06/2020 21:06

Driclor works. You apply it at night and it basically blocks the sweat glands. But it can sting like a motherfucker if you’ve recently shaved your armpits so be careful. Even if you haven’t it can be a bit itchy/ stingy but your skin gets used to it. It’s the only thing that works for me but it irritates my skin if I use it all the time so I only use it when I need to travel around / wear shirts etc.

Staffy1 · 27/06/2020 21:06

As the last poster said, vinegar does help. Dab some on with cotton wool and then let dry before applying deodorant, but don't do it straight after shaving, or it stings.

Harryrotter · 27/06/2020 21:07

I think that that the dove or sure ones that come in the box are the best ever ones, they last for 24 hours. I would never use anything else now. Also using soap rather than shower gel helps, and you need to scrub off the deodorant as it really works and stays on until evening. I never have sweat patches under my arms now.

crosser62 · 27/06/2020 21:09

Dove and sure in boxes completely useless.

I like the sound of that diclor, I’ll get myself down to boots.
Soap does help too I agree.

Driclor is the solution to excessive sweating. You can buy it at Boots.

Read the instructions very carefully and use it exactly in accordance with them. Only ever apply it to pits which are bone dry. It still stings a bit, but that’s a small price to pay for something which really, genuinely does work.
