To think that there is no deodorant that can cope with my issues.

I use mitchum stick first followed by the Mitchum spray.
This just about copes with me, but not brilliantly. Mitchum is probably the best that I’ve ever come across.
Every single other deodorant and antiperspirant I have ever tried is utterly useless and will fail within the first hour.
Even those that are supposed to work for a week don’t work for more than a few hours.

I’m rapidly approaching peri menopause and I just know that it is going to become 100times worse than it is now.

What the hell can I do?

I prefer Perspirex to the other two. I used Driclor just once, and itched to the point where it was painful for a week. And for a quick freshen up I like this foot spray used under my pits. It's antibacterial so it really kills any smell immediately, keeps you fresh for several hours and I've had absolutely no irritation from using it there.

Will try anything so thanks, xx

I've used Odaban, Perspirex, Driclor, Mitchum, Sure.

Still sweated like a pig. And had red raw underarms.

I've found the only thing that works for me is Native Unearthed - it's a natural deodorant (active charcoal) and you rub it into your underarms sparingly (makes it very sore if you use too much). It's weird to describe in that it lets you sweat but there is literally zero odour. It's about £6 a glass pot that lasts a few months.

Ontheboardwalk · 27/06/2020 22:33

Best thing I found out on Mumsnet was soap not Dove

When washing with Dove I always felt I was putting more on the Mitchum roller than putting on my armpits to stop the sweating. Changed to Simple soap made huge difference

I still like Dove for the sink but won’t use it in shower anymore

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 27/06/2020 22:36

Another vote for Driclor - and thanks for reminding me of it! It really did work for me when I was going through a stage of only ever wearing black tops so people couldn't see the constant sweat circles. It can itch/sting, but it honestly changed my life. And my wardrobe.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 27/06/2020 22:39

This may sound odd but where are you putting the deodorant? I use Mitchum roll on and put it in the pits and on the top of my arms at the front (all over the outside of the pits iyswim). There are sweat glands there too so you need to apply deodorant all round the area- it does make a difference.

ChocoholicMama · 27/06/2020 22:41

Driclor definitely. I’ve tried Perspirex too and there was another one which I can’t remember the name of. They’re not just a strong deodorant, they are intended to treat excess sweating. Use sparingly, especially to begin with, to avoid itching. I found that the three I tried seemed to have different strengths... I think Perspirex was the weakest (helped but didn’t fix the problem), Driclor was medium (worked for me), and the other one I can’t remember was far too strong and unbearably itchy. I may have the weakest and strongest mixed up as it’s been a long time. It was a matter of trial and error, but I’d start with Driclor. Once it works, you may only need to use it less and less to keep up the effect. After months of use, I found I only needed to use it every few months, then it was every few years. Now it’s been many years and I don’t need it anymore. Still use normal deo in the mornings... but maybe not for the first few days you’re on Driclor.

This is strong but it really does work: www.beautyofscandinavian.com/store/p91/_Absolut_Torr_35_ml.html.

Don't apply if you have shaved your armpits in the last 3-4 days, apply on clean and, very important, completely dry skin. Let it air dry and then get dressed. If you have shaved recently it will sting, if your armpits are slightly wet they will start to sting and itch a short while after.

If applied correctly though you will not see a drop of sweat for a week and then it will gradually come back again until you apply again.

I worked in a hospital which offered Botox and I believe it’s widely offered. I would go for that my patients who had it mostly came back for more. I noticed the needle phobic patients even turned up for it. You sound like you have a good awareness of it and do what you can to stop it affecting the patients you care for.

Bringonspring · 27/06/2020 22:47

See your doctor, my husband use to sweat a lot and since being prescribed a deodorant it’s stopped the sweating

captainprincess · 27/06/2020 22:53

Another vote for Driclor. I used to weirdly just have one sweaty armpit and it really worked! Yes, it stings like a bitch if you've just shaved, but once you've made that mistake you don't do it again!

Rocksandstones · 27/06/2020 22:54

I used to use Driclor but it stung me so much I couldn’t bare it any more. I since discovered triple dry, I love it. It doesn’t sting and I tend to use it morning and night but once a day would be fine, it’s never failed
me. I was always so sweaty before I could only wear black tops, now I’m confident even in grey (my worst colour for sweat patches!).

Mycatismadeofstringcheese · 27/06/2020 22:54

This stuff. £8 in Boots or £8.25 in Amazon
It is zinc oxide and it kills the bacteria that make you smell. It’s brilliant. You don’t even need to use it every day it lasts that long.

LegitSnack · 27/06/2020 22:55

Which soap is best to use?

I use a roll on and a spray but still smell within a few hours depending on what I'm wearing.

Polkadotties · 27/06/2020 22:57

Driclor. It stings if you use if on freshly shaven armpits or your skin is wet but it really is the only think that works

MotherofKitties · 27/06/2020 23:02

OP try Anhydrol Forte. I can not recommend it enough. You can get it over the counter, you use it as a roll on before bed at night (on armpits, soles of feet's and palms of hands only!!!), and whilst it stings to high heaven as it burns your skin off, you wont sweat again for weeks afterwards (ok skin burning off is a slight exaggeration but that's what it feels like at the time!)

I used to perspire a lot and it made me really self conscious; this product literally changed my life. I use it maybe once a month now to stop the sweat and a usual deodorant daily because I like the fresh smell of it.

ActuallyItsEugene · 27/06/2020 23:04

I suffered the same problem OP. I tried Mitchium (both stick and spray), Driclor and a prescription strength deodorant, bar soap, ACV and charcoal on my under arms to draw out impurities to no avail.

I opted for Botox in the end (under arms, forehead and upper lip) and it's been a game changer for me.
Is that an option for you?

zhivagodr · 27/06/2020 23:05

Botox
And in the meantime, use driclor

PumpkinPie2016 · 27/06/2020 23:05

I use bars of imperial leather soap and mitchum roll on. For some reason, I never felt shower gels worked well.

I developed eczema in my late teens and have used soap bars ever since which have made a big difference.

TheGirlWhoLived · 27/06/2020 23:06

I absolutely swear by L’Oréal roll on 96 hour (it’s in the men’s section, and bright yellow)

I’ve never seen anything work quite so well on either me or dh, and it doesn’t have an overpoweringly manly odour, I’m not adverse to a squirt of aftershave though!

ActuallyItsEugene · 27/06/2020 23:06

I did use this for my face perspiration before the Botox and it worked great.

To think that there is no deodorant that can cope with my issues.
Dorobie · 27/06/2020 23:07

Perspirex works better than driclor I found. It changed my life

LemonPeonies · 27/06/2020 23:07

I second botox, literally stops the sweating.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 27/06/2020 23:11

I was going to suggest using soap too

I was using shower gel and I would small after a few hours now not at all or only at the end of the day I feel much cleaner too at the moment using the pink dove soap smells really nice

I use Nivea men’s deodorant the smell is fresher

PlanDeRaccordement · 27/06/2020 23:12

If you have excessive sweating, the only permanent solution is Botox injections.
