To think pebbledash actually looks really nice?

It’s one of those things people on property shows always react to as if it’s hideous but I really like it! Although I think white pebbledash looks better than brown. Reminds me of my Grandma’s house by the sea.

Noooo. It looks drab and dreary from a distance and when you get up close it looks like vomit. And it's a bugger to get off, I know because I had it removed in a previous house.

Our house has been covered in it, top to toe poor thing. I hate it as it's been done badly (like a lot of jobs on this house Angry) and as a PP has said, the little stones drop out and lie waiting on the paving beneath to stab you on the sole of your foot. Every time the weather is especially inclement there's another lot off, paving is sprinkled with sharp chips and walls look even more like a threadbare carpet.

I really want it off, it's trapping damp underneath the box bay windows and looks really terrible. The semi next to ours doesn't have any so it was clearly a householder (rather than builder) decision and probably done when they built a crap extension on the back and wanted to hide the breeze block architecture. I expect it'll cost a bomb to get rid of and like squoon we will have to prioritise a new roof.

Painted roughcast actually looks nice and is usually only the first storey like NameChange84's middle example. I wouldn't object to that, done properly. Our house's brickwork is not remotely shoddy but the house looks utterly shit now. Sad
