Any estate agents around?

Hello, I'm about to lose my home due to landlord having to sell. I've also been made redundant but hopefully I'll get a job and be able to find somewhere new. Only problem is since moving here my credit rating has gone really poor as I've had to take out two loans and a credit card to get on my feet. When I apply to rent a new house, will the agency check my credit rating and reject me? I've never been behind on rent.

I've never heard of anyone having their credit rating checked to rent a property. They aren't extending you any credit so they shouldn't need to know your credit rating.

Landlords and agencies do check your credit rating but as long as you are not behind on any payments then you should be fine. They do it to find out your repayment history. I wish you the very best of luck.

I'm fairly confident it should be based on affordability. They can run a credit check but can only check on public records i.e Bankruptcy CCJ's's and insolvency. Not arrears or borrowing to available credit level. You should be ok If You can pass their affordability calculator, although if you have fairly recently changed jobs they may look for additional security. Good look, it's a complete nigtmare. I'm extremely fortunate to have secured a Housing Association property because nobody had shown any interest which has been brilliant for me as it's nearly perfect to me and my daughters.
