Looks like Boris Johnson will finally get to wheel his water cannon out.

It looks like rain this weekend in London but if the weather does hold then I think a combination of post-lockdown freedom, impromptu street parties and woefully overstretched police could sadly result in serious unrest.

AIBU?

Oh I'm glad to hear that!

Water cannons are in my opinion an ideal solution to riots and unruly protests.
Much less dangerous than rubber bullets (or really bullets) more targeted than tear gas and don’t put our police officers and animals in and way either.

Once you’ve had a warning to leave, you deserve anything you get and if that’s a blast of water then so be it.

They are used a lot in Belgium at protests and demos. They seem to work well as LochJess says. I can't see why they were sold off/dismantled.

Whether they're still in stock or not, it'll never happen. Everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE is so crippled by political correctness and human rights that the great unwashed will remain unwashed - even by water cannon.
I fear that this will carry on for some years until the police are overwhelmed and we have to protect ourselves in any way we can.
Then of course we'll face the full force of the law ourselves!

They would certainly clear a beach like Bournemouth quickly!

They could be doing with them now in Liverpool. Where's the outrage on here about that?
