So Claire won, what do we think of that? I think Nicole should have won...

OP posts:

I think Matt could do much better than the boyfriend. He seemed nice.

Also cross that Claires friends were labelled "colleagues" , I mean, I think there's more substance to their relationships than just colleagues, which sounds cold.

81Byerley · 25/06/2020 08:57

I was really happy that Clare won, but I thought Matt's final gown was amazing, and probably the best garment of the whole season.

AnnaBanana333 · 25/06/2020 08:59

I called Clare winning from about the mid-point. She was consistently great at sewing, which is the whole point of the show. Matt was too inconsistent and Nicole was creative but not as good technically.

AnnPerkins · 25/06/2020 09:01

I was glad Clare won. She was the best sewer. Perhaps not as 'wow' as some of Nicole's but some of her designs have been really creative, like that futuristic-scrap one she did a couple of weeks ago.

I loved what her mum said at the beginning of the show, about her many 'wonderfulnesses'.

Sorocknroll · 25/06/2020 09:03

Joe Lycett is hilarious though. He is so much better than Liam on bake off professionals. His "Acting" is cringeworthy.

Joe managed to cut the tension and brought out the humerous side of everyone

Littlewhitedove · 25/06/2020 09:03

I was very happy that Claire won. I thought Nicole had a tendency to make mistakes and then tell the judges that she preferred it that way or it was meant to be that way when it wasn't.
Claire was the better technical sewer and deserves the win.

StCharlotte · 25/06/2020 09:12

Clare was the derserved winner.

Matt's dress was amazing but as said above and on the other thread I think he's have struggled badly with breasts and a waist (on his model, not on himself!).

Wasn't Nicole's friend stunning in that orange dress which needed a train?

SoupDragon · 25/06/2020 09:26

Agree, but it was so new, so fresh because it had a man in it

I thought the design was great regardless of who was wearing it. It was new because Matt designed it. The others just used a pattern.

I agree and was rooting for Clare. However, I think it a different kind of skill to be flexible and change things as you go along I do this all the time.

I am delighted that Claire won. She’s really grown on me throughout the series and I really liked her.

I was worried right at the end that even though he had done terribly in the first two challenges, Matt might get the win, helped by the BBC’s current enthusiasm for drag. I think his dress was obviously difficult to sew with that fabric, but much easier to fit on a man. It was also less critical to fit perfectly, as with the lace-up part it was very adjustable. The laces were pulled tighter at the top of the garment than the bottom.

Nicole has been fantastic, but also had a lot of disasters. She hadn’t sewn the skirt on properly, and was just hacking bits off at the end. I also thought it was as if the transformation task was set to advantage her - she was literally wearing a similar outfit in her photos. She has made some amazing things though throughout the series, and I wouldn’t have been too unhappy if she had won.

I have enjoyed this series so much, and I’m really sad it’s finished. Joe has been great, and I hope there’s another one soon.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 25/06/2020 09:46

It was new because Matt designed it. The others just used a pattern. I'll be interested to see one of his patterns that actually fits the model. He so badly mis measured the female model every bloody time. He even fucked up the mannekin early on!

SoupDragon · 25/06/2020 10:16

This one did.

SoupDragon · 25/06/2020 10:18

His experience is in designing for and fitting to a Male form. It's hardly surprising that he wasn't as good with a female one.

FizzFan · 25/06/2020 10:22

I loved Clare from the start and was glad she won. I loved her mum as well.

I think if Matt hadn’t fucked up the first 2 rounds he’d have got it based on his dress.

ConstanceSalinger · 25/06/2020 10:29

I don't think it did fit though. As PP said, it was laced tighter at the top than the bottom, to make the shape fit better, it should have fitted better and have an even lacing.

He didn't even have the fitting challenges that the other two had in terms of shape.

I think his work was definitely more fashionable, just not as good quality as the others in any of the challenges.

bridgetreilly · 25/06/2020 11:27

Clare's mum was the best though. I loved her.

Jodri · 25/06/2020 11:40

Really enjoyed this series. So glad Clare won, loved Nicole too and did liked Matt throughout the series but because he mostly designs for a male body shape I wasn’t very interested in his creations.

As PP have said Clare’s mum was a star! We loved her.

Potionqueen · 25/06/2020 11:48

Just to say I’m glad Clare won. She was the best overall sewer.
And she is Clare, not Claire.
